For those interested, looks like Kastalia bottles are hitting Binny's stores. $30 a pop.

Tip of the Hat to Phase Three Elmhurst for handling the crowds at the Spring Road St Patrick's Day Parade. Good set-up, live music and some really good beers at non-gougey prices!

 

Wait, people are complaining about $30 for a 500ml barrel aged stout? Am I on crazy pills? Isn't that basically the norm these days for most breweries?

Wait until people find out SP charges $70 for a package that includes a 375 ml BA stout.

 

Sometimes $75 just for the stout!

 

How is Herbasaurus? Gonna hit P3 Elmhurst tonight for dinner. I'll probably be using my limited drinks tickets (I'm driving) on some other things. I was hoping they'd have a clear WC available. Saw this was getting released today.

 

Good but very dank if I recall from past years. I think there was a weed quality to this one

 

Very hoppy and crisp. I enjoy it. One of the only non sweet beers they make

 

Great experience at P3 Elmhurst last night. Service was great, taplist was great, food was excellent. We were a party of 7 with 3 kids, so good service is not always easy in that world, therefore much appreciated. My older kids said it was a top 3 burger they've ever had and were still talking about it this morning.

They had Minutiae 2024, Eunoia b3:2024, Kastalia, and both KY Hugs on draft. They had Minutiae 2024, BA Quad, and both KY Hugs to go. I had Minutiae and Eunoia on draft. Both were good. Minutiae was pretty sweet, but that's to be expected with P3. That Eunoia tasted like marshmallow juice, if there is such a thing.

Corned beef was all sold out, which was the only bummer of the night. Ended up getting the tocino banh mi, which was fantastic.

Went to grab some Herbasaurus cans on the way out to learn I had $23 in points earned up. Didn't know they did a rewards system. They said it's newish. At that point it felt like my duty to grab a Minutiae too. That bottle and a 4 pack of a IIPA for $28 OTD just felt right.

 

Dear Shaun,

Stop hiring stoner friends of friends and learn how to put pull tabs on wax bottles correctly during bottling day. TY!

This was a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

Only about 25% of the time would the pull tabs work as intended.

The other 75% were excruciating; since they assumed the tabs worked they would just DUMP wax on those fuckers & it would take a community effort to get it off. It was harder than saving a child who fell into a well.

Had a spirited conversation today with employees and customers of Binnys and ALL had the same gripe.
And like me, the act of taking 10 mins to open a wax bottle that is suppose to ease the pain with a pull tab and it snapping within one pull kills whatever experience you intended it to be.
Shit needs to be addressed

 

It's an easily fixable problem.

STOP WAXING BOTTLES.

This shit ain't some manna from heaven that needs to be protected from oxygen at all costs.

Beer nerds: drink beer fresh, embrace oxidation if you're going to age it (that's the only way it's going to evolve) and breweries: stop pretending you're packaging a soul across the river Styx.

No sir. I had a helluva time opening my bottle of Kastalia. It was brutal. I actually meant to mention it on here, but thought it might've been a user end error since I'd had a few before opening it, then just forgot. Pull tab snapped immediately. Then when I dug through all the damn hard wax, the ribbon was wrapped no where near where it needed to be. So even if it worked as intended, I still would've had to cut a ton of wax off to access the bottle cap.

 

Had this same issue on my last bottle of Minutiae

 

My local tap house had a keg of Phase 3 going this weekend.
