    Hi all,

Would love to hit up an Oktoberfest in the Philly area. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for more than just beer, but German food and perhaps even an oompah band.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Should be on the BA calendar soon - http://www.brauhausschmitz.com/#menu-11

I imagine that besides VIP tix, it would still be free general admission with beers/food being pay-as-you-go like the last couple years.

another vote for brauhaus. it gets pretty crowded but having a block or so of south street shut down for outdoor drinking and eating is a fun time.

Just an FYI, I'm not sure if the VIPs are even still available, but they're $100. I probably should have confirmed the before buying two as I assumed they were in the ~$50 range. Totes my fault, but just something to factor in to your decision. I better not ever have to wait for than 30 seconds to get my pee on!

Yeah, it was quite enjoyable up until about 5:00pm or so. Then, it felt like being in Time Square, which is pretty much what I think my personal hell would be. We were also hanging out right where this white trash guy smacked a cop and got beat down. It was crazy. That was certainly not indicative of the crowd, just a very crazy person.

For the VIP, you got $48 worth of tickets, a $12 shirt and mug with an indeterminate value since I think you only got it with $60 worth of tickets(?) so it was roughly $40 for the VIP section with it's exclusive beers (including two Zwickels so I was happy there) and the private bathrooms, which occasionally had lines, but those were way shorter and faster than anywhere else down there. I would say it was worth it for the VIP, but I wish the area was larger or something because it was just wall to wall **** later on in the day.
