Yep, that sounds like a PoPE event all right. I've found the only way to enjoy an event there is to go 45 minutes or an hour early, get a table, and eat there. The food is good, so it's not like you're wasting your time or money eating there, but competing with 10 other people for a bartender's attention in a small, crowded, hot bar is just not my idea of an enjoyable event. I wish they'd work to cut down on the chaos, it makes it hard to go to events there.

I don't really realize why certain bars don't just throw a couple extra shifts to their employees and have more people working during Beer Week. Sell more beers, make people happier, everyone wins.

I haven't been to an Uno Chicago Grill since I was ~5, has anyone been to PBW events there? Worth going?
I wanted to hit Surly today but I don't think I have the drive in me, it's going to be messy enough with I495 out.

Indeed, that's what I did for the Founders event last year, but this year I wasn't able to get there until right at 7, and I didn't get my first beer until around 7:45.

Perch is only a slight s@&$ show. Did get K13, apple brandy, & sump though...

The taps and the cash register create bottlenecks. They could've had 6 bartenders working, but 4 of them would be waiting to use the register or for their turn at the taps.

This is true, once there are more than a certain number of people in a given bar, the bartending staff has no way of keeping up - although, it can help to have an order/payment taker working in tandem with a pourer, instead of having the bartenders have to take an order, pour the beer, hand it to the customer, and then take the payment. They could speed things up more by pre-pouring pitchers, and help relieve the register bottleneck by using a temporary, cash-only station. And by directing people to stand in line at specific spots so there isn't a free-for-all.

Great Event at the Perch last night. Friends got there early and we had a nice spacious table in the back. Got full 10oz pours of everything we wanted. K13, Tenacious Wee and GNVP. We even got an extra glass of GNVP for some reason. The bar area seemed crowded but I never went over there to look.

I missed the K13 but got everything else I wanted. Really quick service also.

Quick question I haven't been to a beer week event at Resurrection before, how much of a pain in the ass is tonight going to be? I can't make it down there until like 5:45... so I was thinking about skipping all together and just going straight to SPTR.

I imagine the bar will be cleared out by 545, but so will the most coveted beers. I believe they tapped all of the beers at noon. They meet and greet is at 4.

I meant 5:15 but still, good to know they tapped everything at noon. Stupid work. Thanks for the response.

Brandy Hunahpu, BA Sump and Citrus Wizard have all kicked. Mixed Berry Weisse has been hit hard and will probably be the next thing to kick, everything else is still on.

Brandy Hunahpu is one of the BEST (IMO). Got to Resurrection Ale House nice and early (11:15am) and stood in line. Worth it for both this and Sump BA. But the scene inside this small tavern was nuts when they opened. The crew did the best they could but they were out of Huna before 1pm. This is why I like ticketed events better. But at least I got some Brandy Huna and it's fantastic:rolling_eyes:

Iron Abbey was crazy crowded Tuesday night but still got 3 Surly's on tap and also got cans of Furious, Coffee Bender, and Overrated for $5 each. The key was ordering 2 beers at once.

Glad I didn't bother at Resurrection. Lines? No thanks. Their weekend lineup far outshines that event lineup anyways.

    Is Hardywood drawing big crowds?

Would not think so. No G-bread stout, right? Not sure I would put up with lines for anything let alone Hardywood without GBS.

They still had most of the Surly offerings on tap as of last night, and a lot less crowded.
$30 growler fills didn't sound like a good deal, but 6.50 for a pint works quite nicely.
