Philly Beer Week 2016

I'm sure there will be some great events but I'm wondering how great they will be given that we just hosted CBC.

 

2nd favorite holiday. I'll be playing barback at the Deschutes Street Pub

I feel like there are still a lot of events that haven't been announced yet. This year seems very underwhelming compared to last year.

 

Outside of a few annual events, or something you know you don't want to miss no matter what, I've learned that trying to plan your PBW this far in advance is futile. You're just going to change your plans as more and more events get added to the site. Best bet is to wait and then figure it out right before PBW starts. I'll probably take a serious look at the schedule next Wednesday or Thursday.

 

I'm hoping a Dark Horse or Surly event pops up. Missed out on Surly when they were here for CBC.

There is always lots of good evwnts at Philly Beer Week

 

There is a beer fest at the navy yard next saturday, that should be a nice way to try and kick things off

 

It seems like many events don't get announced until the week before PBW starts. The list on Philly Tap Finder seems pretty light, and many of the usual events (POPE Founders, Russian River Sunday) aren't listed yet. I expect it will all fall into place by the middle of next week.

 

this is surprising to me, and maybe i just didn't think about it much in previous years (could be because i am actually off from work this time around - not planned), but i would have thought a lot of bars would have events lined up way in advance. they probably do, but simply haven't announced it. Bottle Bar East, for example, has had the opening sour event planned at least a full month, and i knew from the bartenders.

 

I'm not sure what size staff the PBW organizers have, or how many are responsible for updating the web site, but with approximately 100 venues hosting events, many of them each of the 10 days, I have to imagine it takes some time to get everyone to submit information and then get it online.

As for Funky Buddha, they'll be at Churchville Inn and Bainbridge Street Barrel House as usual. Bainbridge on 6/12, no date yet from Churchville.

One item that caught my eye was the "Mystic Monday" at Devil's Den. I assume they're talking about Mystic Brewery out of Mass? Have they ever had stuff in Philly before?
