The Wild Brunch event this morning at Bru seemed super smooth

Just in town for the night and have no clue where half the stuff is. Is there anything remotely close to chestnut hill worth checking out?

@PhillyTapFinder saw something today about a mini-version of the homebrew event going on tomorrow at St. Ben's tomorrow, 3-5pm. just sayin. i haven't been to the new taproom yet, so it might be worth checking out

i was also just told from someone who asked Memphis what happened. apparently people claimed to have gotten sick off the homebrew & the owner decided to just stop doing the event. i guess there was also a problem with having accountability amongst the homebrew as well as the legality of selling tickets to serve it.... not good. not sure how true how the legal thing is bc it ran for a bit there. the whole thing stinks

come to think of it, the legal aspect def doesn't make sense since there's the Extreme Homebrew event in CC the past few. went to Tria Taproom today for Drai Laag, first visit, nice quiet lunch. I wasn't aware that they basically only do wild ales

oh, that's a shame. i'm not sure about the legal aspect either, but i think that the beer is supposed to technically be free. you are paying for food. oh well. sucks for the homebrewers because it was a great event to showcase their talent and memphis always did a nice job in running the event.

i know very little about draai laag. only a little bit trickles into philly. i've heard mixed review, but overall, people seem to think that they're close to the top in terms of local wild ales (while our locals have many strengths, that is not one of them, although it seems like some of the new breweries are making some big strides in that area).

yep, absolute shame. i'm thinking a couple made a stink and they just didn't want to get dragged down in the mire.

i was only already familiar with Drai Laag from a trip to Pittsburgh, although it was closed when i was able to go. came highly recommended. out here i've only seen the same bottle - Golden Brugge? it was okay. unsure of how much they bottle, or if i'll ever see it, but Relic today was great. def plan on going back to Pitt, but i'm just glad i found a great snoozer event that happened to be something i missed out on formerly.

if i had to make a comparison of note, i would say Forest & Main are the closest option, but still very different conceptually.
