Philly Beer Week 2017

Their website seems to be experiencing issues since every link brings you to a 404 page.
As of right now, your best bet is to check other social media like Twitter and search for your favorite venue.

 

I browsed the site while it was up the other day. I was surprised by the number of bars and breweries not currently listed as participants. With all of the wonderful beer we get year round, it just doesn't feel as special as it did 5 or so years ago.

 

That sounds about right to me.

It really does seem like excitement and hype are pretty low, compared to years past. Typically, a buddy and mine go down on the first Saturday and hit a bunch of events, but the event lineup for this Saturday looks weak compared to years past. Wonder what happened?

 

I just quickly scanned the list of events but they all read like something I would see during the rest of the year.

Does anybody know of any events which feature beers that are not regularly available in Philly throughout the year?

For example, is there an event which features beers from Hill Farmstead? Or maybe an event which features beers from Vermont like The Alchemist, Lawsons,...? Or an event that...

Too bad there's not an app for this year. You'd think with this being the 10th Anniversary they'd have something.

 

I know Barcade is tapping Other Half Double Mosaic Daydream and Superfun! as well as Local 44 doing like DDH ACE, Space Diamonds, Boogie Board Stuntz, Double Mosaic Dream and Riwaka. Both going down Thursday 6/1

 

In past years, HF & Alchemist were featured in events and a lot of major breweries would come to PBW for tap takeovers etc. Now many of those breweries distribute to Philly so there is nothing to look forward to. JMO ....

 

That was my point of my previous post.

If there were events this year that featured beers from Hill Farmstead, Lawsons, Trillium, Tree House,... I would be excited to attend them since these would be beers I can't buy year round here.

Hermit Thrush from VT is coming to a few events. Sad that theres no Funky Buddha event or Cigar City event as those have been personal highlights the past few years.

It seems odd that whomever is running the show at PBW now hasn't gotten the website listings so polished that it almost seems like an ad - what they have is more like a handwritten sign for a yard sale.

 

I really wish there was a filter on their site to remove UNO from the event listings.

 

I think it's a pretty polished website. You can sort by category, and if you click on an event there is more detail info. What else do you expect from them?
