    Just for fun...

Some of my favorite Philly Beer Week events of all time (no particular order)

    - Bells tap takeover at City Taphouse University City
    - Great Lambic Summit at UPenn Museum
    - Funky Buddha at Prohibition
    - Troegs opening day at Kite and Key (I’m sad they don’t participate anymore)
    - Voodoo at Perch Pub
    - Perennial brunch at Khyber

I just got back from Pilsners & Pierogis at the Grey Lodge Pub. Plenty of high quality Pilsners on tap. The Pierogis were excellent. I even had the opportunity to play darts with Scoats.

Another enjoyable Philly Beer Week event!

    Cheers!

P.S. My favorite Pilsner this evening was St. Benjamin's Procim Pilsner - that beer paired very nicely with the Pierogis I ate.

Bell's Tap Takeover at CTH was great because they'd usually have Black Note and put on some awesome non-Bell's beers too. One year they had Black Note and KBS. That was a good year.

Lost Abbey at Nodding Head was the best event both years I went to it. The second one had Duck Duck Gooze and Framboise de Amorosa, in addition to Cuvee de Tomme. The first year it was a shitshow as they had all the beers in sixtels behind the bar, but the second year they had the DDG and Framboise out separate from the rest of the beer and sold everyone tickets ahead of time and avoided a shitshow even though the place was packed. Probably the best beer event I've ever been to, the crowds at both were fun too.

Founders at POPE was a total shitshow the first year I went to it, because they had CBS and weren't really prepared for the amount of people that showed up. Only got a glass of CBS because some dude ordered 2, then realized he had to be somewhere and happened to give the extra one to my wife. In following years it was much tamer, they always had all of the special releases from the previous year, plus KBS and Backwoods Bastard, so it was always worth showing up for.

Perennial at Cinder was great. Vanilla Abraxas was why we went but underwhelming. Also finally got to try Russian river STS Pilsner. Very good. The BBA Monday Night stout was a very nice surprise. Oh and a PVW duo that had 20 yr. Cheers to Cinder!

We do, just the rest of the year and not for specific events.

I have no problem enjoying good beer. I do have a problem with bars hyping up readily available beer as "special" and throwing an event for it just to get people to buy into the hype, which is most of what Philly Beer Week seems to be about.

The ratio of the # of events that people actually put some thought and effort into, versus the total number of events, is depressingly small.

Also, if it helps with my non-snob cred I drank and enjoyed a Miller High Life last weekend.

I think that makes it worse drinking the champagne of beers!

I did the Lost Abbey/Bruery SoCal event at Monks immediately following the Flyers game 6 loss in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. The least crowded you could expect a bar to be serving all of those great beers.

Stumbled into Strangeloves to find BA Abraxas on tap - something must be going right with Philly beer week.

Shocked they didn’t send that keg to the Perrenial event! I would love to try that.

    ... at Strangelove's, with a not-so-big crowd.

Must be because they didn't list it on their website as part of the event. Brendan and Leigh are sneaky like that sometimes.

All Weekend Wood at Resurrection Ale House was always worth going to at least once. RIP. Glad they're keeping that one going.

So Capone's just posted what they still have on tap from the Philly Beer Week events. Again, this says something about how ubiquitous good beer is that these are the leftovers:
