I have a condo in West Linn, so I try to make it back out as often as I can. It's the only way I can maintain what little sanity I have left.

By sanity you mean cases upon cases of PNW beer?

Holy shit......Deschutes sixers are what I buy when I'm trying to be frugal, the benefits of living in the PNW.

You coulda got a sixer of Collage for $18 if you were willing to bend your moral/ethical code ever so slightly...

I would bend that moral code all day for that deal. Then I would send a nice gift to the cashier as a thank you

I can see both sides and won't tell anyone else they're wrong for doing it, but I personally don't think I could take advantage of an obvious, honest mistake like that. Karma's a bitch.

But would that be negative karma if all your trades include multiple bottles of collage as extras?

I don't trade anymore, but I think the best you could do is make it a little more neutral by doing that. If you got a killer deal and knew for a fact the price was an employee error, you're off to a dubious start regardless of what you do afterwards.

Loose analogy: If I make a fortune selling crack and use a fraction of that money to open a community center, where do I stand karma-wise?

The loose analogy would hold up if mispriced beer killed people.

I think a better analogy would be buying watermelons priced cheaper than intended and then giving some of those watermelons to the local soup kitchen.

My analogy's weak (FWIW I almost used Iran-Contra, not sure how that would compare), but so is yours. Beer isn't a life necessity, neither are watermelons. Also, I've never had watermelon soup but I doubt it's all that nutritious. Sub "watermelons" for "beans" and we might be getting somewhere.

Still, this isn't just a slight mispricing. The store is going to lose money on every bottle, and the OP in the other thread knew that before deciding to buy. Again, I'm not going to argue that he was wrong in doing it, only that I would feel like I was doing wrong (moral relativism). I've followed a code that loosely says "avoid doing things that you feel or know are wrong," and it's generally worked out pretty well for me for about 42 years now. Other people only have themselves to answer to.

    Sign me up.

Deciding on when to drink Pliny is like procrastinating, it will only get worse with time
