Interesting comment from someone who uses the black smurf as their avatar, which is a cartoon that was purposely kept from the US because of the racist undertones. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Smurfs). I'm all for keeping stuff on topic, I'm here to talk beer but, ya know...glass houses/stones/etc.

Interseting comment from someone who doesn't know me and has been a member of beer advocate for less than 2 months, but the smurf avatar is more or less innocent. The wikipedia article you posted on smurfs/black smurfs has nothing to do with racism and I resent the implication. Again, beer website not a political one, so please keep your glass houses/stones/political views to yourself and don't project on me. By the way, I'm black.

The black smurf thing is racist as hell, though I have a friend with tourettes who had a "Gnap" phase and it has become a legendary saying in our circle. I've used it for passwords, naming bands, I even say it to my kids when I put them to sleep. I'm surprised I don't know dwaz. Just sayin - that Black smurf representing the plague who nearly ruined the peaceful little Smurf village could mean a lot of things.

Good to know, for future reference. We had a very nice time in Philly and the GF indicated she wouldn't mind doing weekends in the downtown area from time to time. So I'm sure it won' be long before we make another pilgrimage up that way again soon.

For now, however, it's time to focus on what events to attend for Philly beer week!

Sugarmom's will always have nostalgia with me becuase I can remember when it was one of the only craft beer bars in Philly - I'm remembering back to the early/mid 90s. The place was impossible to find, but having a bar with all those taps and being able to get SNPA and Pete's was such a treat back then.

I haven't been there recently, but from what I hear they can use some modernization.

Glad you had a good time John, there really is a lot to do in the city if you have eating and drinking in mind.

She/we enjoyed everything we did. She really liked the Mummer's museum, and we braved the lines to see the Bell as well. Meals at Morimoto's, Eulogy, SPTR and Teresa's were all outstanding (my GF about fainted when she saw the size of the foie gras on her breakfast brioche at Teresa's). I was disappointed that John's was closed on the Saturday we stopped by, but I figure we'll hit them up again next time we're in town.

Just my two cents and my opinion, but I continue to feel that TND is the best beer bar on the East Coast, taking into account the beer selection (bottle and draft), ambiance (pleasant cafe atmosphere and generally good service) and the quality and diversity of the food coming out of the kitchen.

If you didnt want the conversation to be political, then you shouldnt have jumped on someone for stating a political opinion.

As for everything else: I call em as I see em. My photo is real, I own what I post and don't hide behind anything. If you want to hash it out over a beer, you know where to find me.
