    Remember reading an article about a train line from Center City (market/conention center) out to Downingtown, with stops near Teresa's, Tired Hands, Victory and others. Would like to head down tomorrow and check it out. Have hundreds of beer publications around the house but can't find the article and BA search didn't yield much. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    I have taken the train many times from Harrisburg but have never done a beer trip. The stops you are looking for along R5 Line are:

    Downingtown = Victory
    Paoli = TJ's (a block from the station)
    Wayne = Teresa's (the Keystone Line doesn't always stop at Wayne so I don't know much about the Wayne Station)
    Ardmore = Tired Hands

    You likely won't want to walk from the D'town station to Victory. However, you will be right across the street from Station Taproom, a worthy stop. In Malvern, Flying Pig is a block away.

    SEPTA doesn't refer to it as the R5 anymore, they now call that line Paoli/Thorndale. Definitely pick up a schedule or check it out on line because, while all trains will hit Paoli and Malvern, they don't all go beyond Malvern to Downingtown. As pointed out above, Victory is a hike from the Downingtown station, but all the other places are no more than a few blocks, and in some cases they are right across the street.

    BTW, Tired Hands opens at 4 so plan accordingly.

    It's also important to note that Station Taproom next to the Downingtown train station doesn't open to 3pm Monday through Thursday. Opens at noon on Friday and Saturday and at 11am on Sunday for brunch.

    Thanks for the info folks. After checking TapFinder and websites I'm going to concentrate on breweries, Tired Hands, Forest & Main, Earth Bread & Brewery. Cheers.
