Philly: Unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell at Bru tonight

Aah! Where was the heads-up about this? I would've dropped everything and been there for this event if there was even the slightest hint of it sooner than the absolute last minute. I can only hope there's some left tomorrow night.

And yes, there is NOTHING quite like an unfiltered Pilsner Urquell. I could not get enough of it in Praha.

 

It was still pouring last night, you might have a chance to get some if you act soon. (I'd call ahead, though.)

 

I just got word that it kicked. Hopefully you were able to get some beforehand.

 

I was fortunate enough to try this at a similar event at Papago Brewing in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 8. The beer was fantastic! And the Cask was empty within an hour. If you can get yourself a glass of it, you won't be disappointed!

 

can anyone describe how the unfiltered version is different/better? I would just think that the yeast or whatever settles to the bottom of your glass and you don't drink it. Inquiring minds want to know...

 

just to revive an old thread…the unfiltered will be pouring in an invite-only event at Gaslight in Philly this Wednesday evening, 09Apr14. Word is, they will have two kegs, one for the invite event, and one for a public event the following week.

On a separate but related matter there was an unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner at this past Sunday's Yards cask beer event (I started a thread on that). Allentown Brewworks Kellerbier was excellent!

The description provided for the Allentown Brewworks Kellerbier: “Pale, unfiltered lager. Sweet hay malt flavor with moderate bitterness. Hopped with Czech Saaz in the kettle and cask for a spicy aroma. ABV 5.2%”

Unfortunately I haven't seen any word about Gaslight tapping another unpasteurized keg on their website, Facebook or Twitter. If I lived closer I would just stop by tomorrow night regardless, but in reality it's too far away to make the trip on the hope they might tap it. If anyone hears that it's happening please let us know. (I have about half-a-dozen buddies who'd also like to experience it as well.)
