So, I just moved to Phoenix from Milwaukee and 1. don't know anyone, and 2. like to drink beer. When I moved to Milwaukee in August, I started a bottle share group on Facebook that has grown to some 250+ people and sees events happen pretty much bi-weekly. It ended up being a great discussion tool, trade platform and information thinktank. That group started with a simple post on BA, just like this one. I'd like to do the same now that I'm in Phoenix. I live over in the East Valley and am looking for others that are interested in getting together occasionally to talk beer and drink it. My cellar needs to take some dents and there are too many bottles I just can't open alone. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get something fired up.
There is already a group, Arizona Craft Beer Lovers on Facebook. About 5,800+ members and enough info on bottle shares, beer releases, brewery openings, etc etc. Need to be accepted first, shoot me a message and I will try and get you added. Another smaller group is Arizona Locals Only Beer Page on Facebook. Check them out, plenty going on.
I could be wrong, but cursory glances made me think those were almost strictly about local craft beer, I didn't see any bottle share info, real discussion or trading going on - looked mostly like promo shares from other pages. I'm also a little wary of trying to get a bottle share together in a group with 6,000 people in it, haha.
The AZ local one is geared towards all things AZ. The other group is all things beer related, releases, promos, beer events, special tappings. And real simple, invite a few people over to your tasting and cap it at a number you feel comfortable with. There is not a shortage of open invites from other members either.
I'm down for a bottle share-type situation. I gotta admit I've never done the bottle share thing, and don't have a stockpile of whalez in my cellar (mini fridge).. but I'd like to get into something like that. I live in central phx but work in mesa so I frequent some east-side joints quite frequently as well if you'd like to meet up (AZ Wilderness, San Tan, Beer Research Institute, GCM) for a drink or two.
RastaPHX- both of those groups sound pretty awesome. How do you get in the Arizona Craft Beer Lovers group? I just checked them up on facebook and several of my friends are in the group already. Kinda jealous. Would it be too much to ask to get me bumped up on the add member list as well?
I'll be moving to the Phoenix area from West Virginia around late july and I'll need a new bottle share group to hang out with.
I'll be back from a trip to MA this weekend. Bringing back Trillium, Night Shift, and Tree House if you want to set up a share in the phx/tempe area soon.
Hey guys/gals, from the east valley myself and definately keep up with both facebook groups mentioned in this thread. I myself (and the wife of course) would be more than happy to participate in a local bottleshare with BA members! Lets see if we can get something organized here in the next month or so, i have some whalez that are just too high of abv for me and her to finish by ourselves!
This thread is relevant to my interests... I'll be in Mesa starting the 22nd through the middle of July and would love to meet up with some BAs out there.
This group kicked me for mentioning Four Peaks in the same breathe as AB InBev - I believe it's run and moderated by the industry rather then the people. They also deleted my list of AZ Microbrews and comparison of the Four Peaks deal to Breckenridge - Anheuser-Busch InBev to Acquire Breckenridge Brewery
