I'll be in town the Feb 28-Mar 2 (for the Great AZ Beer Fest) and wanted to know what good bottle shops were in the PHX area - I'll be staying in N PHX off of 17 & Cactus. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

I'm not sure about N PHX, but if you make it down to Tempe area head over to Taste of Tops.

Most indie bottle shops are in Tempe that I know of. Otherwise check out total wine at desert ridge.

You're not going to find anything too amazing nearby. Magnums Cigar Bar is pretty close, but it seemed like their prices were a bit high. The bevmo at I17 and Happy Valley is likely to be your best bet. Not all Bevmo's are created equal and this one seems to be better than most. Whole Foods at Scottsdale/101 would also be a good bet as they tend to get larger quantities of limited release brews.

I'll be in Tempe for the AZ Beer Fest so sounds like a plan to me!

Near the fest is Tops Liquor, Papago Brewing and a Bevmo. While Bevmo is the larger one I prefer to shop at the independents who are all about supporting craft beer-that being both Papago and Tops. Papago keeps all the beer cold and has good prices, Tops has a larger selection because they also carry out of date beers on the shelves in addition to what is current and sometimes have higher prices on limited release beers.

I work at the Wine Store on 32nd st and Camelback and we expanded are beer selection. So locals and tourist stop by. We are locally owned and have great prices.
