I got to Downeast Maine expecting to find good Maine beer but no luck. I gave a buddy a list of Maine beer but his wife got him to buy grocery store beer instead. So we stopped at a small grocery store on Campobello Island for something and I found a rack of expensive Picaroons beers. I bought at least 2 of everything they had and really liked them all. Few BA's in the US would have appreciated them(no barrel aged 12% ABV hop bombs) but my buddy from NM and I really like them all. I just finished my last Timber Hog until next year.
They're half decent. Don't keep we'll though. Had a few that were a bit past the BB and they were totes magotes sour. Nothing too out there. But something diff for the NB market.
I would agree with tbeckett, they don't keep too well past the BB date. I am quite fond of them though. That might be because my brother in law used to be partners with them though, and I am "family" to them. They seem to be picking up production and they are working a bit on some new brews from what I hear. They are among the elder statesmen of the craft brewing industry in Atlantic Canada.
