Will be visiting at the end of the month and will have limited time for brewery visits. What are the 3 best to visit? Might be able to hit Ft Collins but haven't decided yet.

Comrade, Crooked Stave and Cannonball Creek are my choices for beer, but if you want a cool brewery atmosphere you'll probably want to check out some of the bigger guys.

If I could only go to 3 I'd go to Crooked Stave, Comrade, and TRVE.

Probably Dry Dock, Comrade, and Avery. Crooked Stave or Hogshead would be next.
If you can do Ft. Collins, Odell and New Belgium are right across from one another.

Avery, Hogshead, Crooked Stave. This is from someone who hasn't yet been to Comrade, though.

    Hogshead, Comrade, the new Avery.

Of course, some other can easily substitute in. The new Breckenridge, Station 26, Epic (what, like 33 beers on tap there?), Bull/Bush, .....

I would not recommend Crooked Stave--beers are great, but atmosphere is very much :grimacing::angry::astonished::slight_frown:

What's wrong with the Source? Other than having the aesthetics of a giant Chipotle, it has a liquor store and two solid restaurants inside. Not saying it's my favorite place in the world, but it's not that bad.

    Unique Atmosphere/Overall Awesomeness: TRVE

The Source is trying WAY too hard to be a mini artisanal community. The tenants are great, but the space is crazy pretentious. It only wishes it could be SF's Ferry Building

It's more like a small prison. Not to mention the center-bar-area plays gawdawful music loudly. Parking lot looks like 1945 Germany. I go for special releases, when I can, but that's about it.

The Source is probably one of the cooler places in Denver to go. It has everything to have an awesome time. Good food, good drink, a deli that will deliver you cheese/meat plates to you over at CS, dry-aged butcher shop, arguably one of the best coffee roaster in Colorado (boxcar)......

    Only bad thing, hipster central

I don't get how a building can be "pretentious" but whatever. The Source is awesome. 2 really good restaurants.(Acorn is one of the best in the city) It also houses a pretty good bottle shop, a bakery, butcher shop, and one of the best breweries in the state. It's across the street from the new Great Divide and Mockery. Walking distance to a dozen other breweries. Denver really needed a space like this. It's pretty much a perfect place to take out-of-towners for good beer and good food.

Who cares about the gravel parking lot? At least they have a parking lot. 95% of breweries in this town don't. And who cares about hipsters? If I was concerned about the hipster presence I would have to avoid Cap Hill, RiNo, and Baker entirely.

My top 3: Crooked Stave, Avery, Comrade

You can still like something that is pretentious, it's just not all that authentic... Like Wes Anderson films

Wild Woods - not one of the primary destinations for most people, but it's really the only brewery that I like essentially every beer. Whereas most everywhere else I like 1 or 2 and couldn't care less about the rest of the line-up.

Avery - obviously popular, but I just can't not choose it, great selection pretty much all the time.

Comrade - I really could go several directions for #3, but Comrade does have solid beers in several styles so there's usually something for everyone.

Now if your tastes lean towards specific styles : sours, English, German, reds, French, saisons and so forth, the list will change considerably.

lol, I like this. I really enjoyed Crooked Stave and can't wait to go back, but I'm good at blocking out the distractions, see quote below.

Meh, I'm from Austin, I'm accustomed to this all the time :grinning:
