I made a Berliner weisse and added plums and mango to the secondary. The gave a bit of fruity sweetness to the aroma and taste but mainly they colored the brew a light ruby color. My question is, if I am wanting to enter this into a homebrew competition do I need to enter it as a Specialty beer. If I just put it under 17a would it lose points just for the appearance and aroma?
    Thanks

I would enter that under 20 (fruit beer) since it's no longer a base berliner weisse 17a, you would probably get docked on points for color and aroma/taste if it's in 17a.

I just entered a Flanders Red with cherries in 16E...Belgian Specialty, because German beers have no specialty sub catagory of their own, I would be tempted to enter it in 16E also (Flanders Red and Berlinerweisse are both in 17...Sours...shit, I don't know...kind of a Catch 22
