I'm 67 yo. My father's brands were Piels and Ballantine. We lived in the Philly suburbs. The beer distributor was less than a half block away from the house, a drive-thru. Fond memories. I'd buy a new Piels. I'm in north east Florida....... Yuengling has done well here. Why not Piels?

    But..but... they've got a website! http://www.pielsbeer.com/

Still think it's strange that they've stuck with that post-Piel-ownership era's label design (dates from the Schaefer-Stroh "cheap beer" period). Heck, half the fun of a reborn brand is the cool retro label.

My apologies but I am not a Facebook user. Do they provide any details in where this beer will be available? Is it a NYC only beer?

    Cheers!

I'm not a "Facebook user", either, but I still visit brewers' pages there .

In November, the Pielsbeer page said:
    In Jan. 2016, they noted:
Not much other info (where or who (brewer), etc)- they seem more interested in posting pics of Bert & Harry and other Piels breweriana. They do list a phone 914-269-2479

One of the pics on their Facebook page implies they are going to be distributed by Union Beer Distributors in Brooklyn.

By then, it would likely say it's from "Piel Bros., Allentown, PA"?

Owned by Stroh (they acquired the brand when they bought F & M Schaefer). Not sure they ever brewed it in any of their other breweries.

I think the side of the can said Heilman-looking at a photo it does say Stroh Brewery Lehigh Valley PA. Also 100th anniversary 1883-1983

The Piels website now has some actual information on it. For example:

“The Piels Revival has begun. We will initially be distributing in 14 counties throughout New York. We will be updating this list weekly as orders are placed. Please use interactive map to find the location nearest to you. Below the locator map is a list of all counties Piels will currently be distributed in.”

    https://www.pielsbeer.com/piels-locator-1

It will be interesting to hear how this beer tastes. Hopefully it will be a little bit ‘more’ than just a stereotypical AAL beer (i.e., a beer like Budweiser) since there are already enough of this genre of beer on beer store shelves.

    Cheers!

I've been seeing those 12 packs in quite a few shops in Westchester and Long Island NY. As seen in @jesskidden 's pic, I heard it's being brewed at Captain Lawrence.

Chris, is there any evidence this beer is selling well (e.g., there was a stack of Piels last week but only a few boxes this week)?

    Cheers!
