I'm not getting quote to work so following up on:
    "Fremont Brewing Company
Oak Aged Dark Star with Hazelnut and Smoked Black Peppercorn is on tap and in bottles! $6/Goblet and $10/Bomber. Come and get it!"

Don't snooze, this is very nice. The hazelnut influence makes this the best nutty stout I've had. There were no limits, but don't get greedy, I want to go back for a few more bottles.

Your post prompted me to swing down and pick up a couple bottles of this. I also grabbed a bomber of Sour Weisse; anyone know if this is the same beer as Sour Kettle? I created a new profile under the name on the label, but perhaps they should be merged.

    Same beer, new name.

Yes, all the above beers should be merged...sour kettle is sour weisse with a fancy name.

I saw the earlier Oaked Dark Star entry, but decided to create the new one because, although most people wouldn't know or care, long pepper is a completely different spice than black pepper, with a different flavor profile. I use both and by themselves are quite distinct (and from different species (Piper longum vs Piper nigrum). Although the pepper is admittedly subtle in this, there could be flavor differences.

Minus oak and swap black pepper for long pepper: seems like a different beer.

They are both oak aged, it's just a different pepper. But if a different pepper is different enough, fine with me. Rated the other one the same. I would argue the difference between the old KDS and the new KDS is much more than a switch in pepper.

I didn't have the chance to try the draft (long pepper) version, but I also suspect I couldn't tell the difference as fsck suggests. I'd defer to Texwild on this one. (Although merges appear to occur infrequently here anyway...). If this is going to be bottled again, it might be good to have a profile that matches the label. Sadly it may not get even ten reviews, merged or not.

went by the brewery yesterday and was pleasantly surprised in the expansion of outdoor seating. just in time!

the dark star with hazelnut and peppercorn was excellent. very different beer... works really well in a very different way. also had a midnight rider, which was excellent as well.

as nice as those two beers were... i can't help but think about how fucking great the bottle of b-bomb was that i opened on saturday. maybe it was so damn good because i was brewing at the time myself, but it was tasting exceptional. the hotness was dialed down a bit, but still there in a very good way. drank a rye-on-rye tonight since i was craving some bourbony-goodness, and it just wasn't the same level. luckily, i've got three or four left in the cellar.

Did I miss these or is the Steelhead run really strong this year?

Had to go back to the original post to see that you're talking about a 2nd batch of 1st Nail bottles. Haven't heard or seen anything about them yet.

Also, any word on another batch of Sour Weisse bottles? I was told there would be more, but that person could've been wrong.
