When Costco says they take a loss on beer, that does not mean the sell it for less than they buy it. It means after they factor in the cost to store the beer, pay employees to manage the beer, and all other costs associated with the beer added to the base cost, they lose money, which is balanced out by the fact people will buy memberships to gain access to cheap beer. Costco breaks even on most items and attributes profits to membership fees.

At my local kroger and other stores every 6 pack of ballast point is 8.99 or 9.99... even Dorado is 9.99 a sixer.... but sculpin and grapefruit sculpin still 15.99 a sixer... what a fkn joke.

Well I appreciate the "courtesy" but your passive aggressive "lambasting" of me is truly not necessary. And freedom of speech is certainly allowed, but giving an opinion on a product that you haven't tried is just silly, and I was merely pointing that out.

The funniest part about your response to me is that you did exactly what you were putting me down for.

Awesome avatar....... Once upon a time BP was $8.99 around here. $11.99 is the lowest I have seen calico anymore.

    Enjoy

Once in a while I treat myself to Sculpin. But at $15 a six-pack I haven't risked tasting one of the flavored versions for fear of drain-pour. Maybe I'll pick up a mixed-six and take one bottle of grapefruit and give it a try.

Just had it, bottled January 19, 2016. My overall opinion is that the pineapple mellows out Sculpin's punch. The hops were not as noticeable as regular Sculpin, the pineapple adds some sweetness. Regular Sculpin does come through and I think it is a good beer but I prefer regular Sculpin and grapefruit Sculpin over this.

I am very pleased to have these beers - they open new drinkers up to craft beers, and if BP made a "fruit variant" variety pack it would be an awesome thing to bring to parties - most anyone slightly adventurous would give them a try, and I have no issue drinking any of them. No, it's not Other Half, Tree House, whatever . . . but it fills a niche that I see value in.

Still searching in the Seattle area for new Ballast Point fruit beers. Have seen nothing so far (outside Grapefruit) as we enter the final week of January 2016.

Ah, just found a small local Grocer that is getting 6 cases of Pineapple and possibly Watermelon on Thursday 01/28/16. Mad props to local Thriftway!

Is it? A wine cooler is wine and fruit juice. This is beer and fruit juice.

Dude, even at any of the Ballast Point tasting rooms, you'll find Sculpin and it's variants priced at $15. I guess the whole getting it from the source thing really doesn't save you a dime. It's a shame but hell, people still buy the stuff, no problem.
