Not a big fan of the pineapple. I love regular and grapefruit, but will not be buying pineapple again.

Like some folks have said, I didn't think this one meshed as well as the grapefruit, which seemed a more natural marriage of hop aroma/flavor and adjunct contributoin. Not bad -- it's still Sculpin after all -- but not something I'd grab again when regular and GF are readily available.

After initially not caring for it, I sat on a bottle for 3 weeks and found it to be MUCH better. The pineapple actually shows up a lot more, too. I think the hops are too heavy when fresh, so they kill everything else. A little time makes this a lot closer to what I expected.

I recently bought a bottle of Pineapple Sculpin just to see what it was all about. I didn't get any pineapple in the nose or on the palate, though it was a little sweeter and less insistent than standard Sculpin.

Sculpin and Grapefruit Sculpin are still a couple of standard go-tos when they are on draft somewhere unexpected, like yesterday, when I was at a Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill and they surprisingly had the following on tap:

    • Pineapple Sculpin
    • Grapefruit Sculpin
    • Grunion
    • Lagunitas IPA
    • Blue Moon (blecch)
    • 805 (blecch)
    • Modelo Especial (blecch)
So... a few years ago, you wouldn't have seen any craft beers on draft. Arguably, there still aren't any...

I reviewed it yesterday, 3.91. Nice pineapple in the nose, very little in flavor. It's not in the same league as Sculpin or GF Sculpin, imo.

Terrible, tastes like something AB would just add some pineapple juice to some Bud or something Sam Adams would just add some fruit juice to any of their beers.

I absolutely love Sculpin and think it is the best widely available IPA. I also like Grapefruit Sculpin and drink it occasionally. But the Pineapple Sculpin is major letdown in my opinion. To me, it does not taste like Sculpin or pineapple. Can't really define the taste except that it is unpleasant.

OK, I had huge expectations for this beer based on my love for both Sculpin and Grapefruit Sculpin - Habanero just isn't my bag. And while I don't think Pineapple lives up to the other two, I do think it's a solid IPA and an interesting addition to the lineup in the sense of how mellow and subtle it is. Yes, regular and GF Sculpin are world-class, but can I put down more than two or three in one session without feeling fatigued? No. Pineapple, on the other hand, at least for me, had just enough pineapple/tropical fruit character to keep things interesting, but those notes were just nuanced enough and incorporated well enough that I could drink through 3 or 4 in one session and not feel spent palate-wise. Plus, I think because of how restrained the pineapple is, it would pair well with a bunch of different foods - Thai, Indian, or teriyaki burgers, which we had the other night.

Simply put: I think it works well, especially if you temper your expectations a bit. Watermelon Dorado on the other hand? Yeah, not so much...

It was fine. Not worth $15 a sixer though. And I don't mind dropping that on grapefruit.

Not very impressive. I was very underwhelmed given I LOVE grapefruit sculpin.

I found it on tap in IL. Not great but could see myself drinking it in volume in summer. Agree that grapefruit is way better and would rather pay the price for it. As far as "no pineapple at all" you must have a very dull palate. The pineapple is there, especially the underlying sweetness that comes from a fresh pineapple.

I didn't pick up any pineapple at all. I'd much rather have Grapefruit Sculpin.

So I received this in the Sculpin Variety pack. While not as impressive as regular or Grapefruit, it is still a tasty beer which is slightly more sessionable than the other two. I would never pick this up alone in a $14.99 sixer but I would consider it a worthy addition to the Sculpin Variety pack.

Original sculpin is very good and habernero sculpin is a personal favorite of mine. I thought the grapefruit and the pineapple I got in the mixed 12 pack both were awful. So awful that I actually tried to recreate habernero sculpin with them and my own habernero sauce and would actually rather drink them like that.

Had a bottle this past weekend that was 3 or 4 weeks old. Thought the smell was quite nice, a good amount of pineapple on the nose. The taste, not so much. The sweetness of the pineapple didn't mesh well with the base beer IMO.

I had a draft pint of Pineapple Sculpin recently and couldn't taste or smell any pineapple at all. I am beginning to think they poured me a regular Sculpin.

Funny, I had one sip of habanero and spit it out. But I'll drink Grapefruit all day long; I like it better than "regular" Sculpin by a hair.
