I certainly pray to the altar of the capitalistic tensions of the power of the seller versus power of the buyer. One of my points in the cost plus model was that if our favorite breweries aren't making a decent enough profit margin, they aren't going to be around for us to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

I understand and agree with you, but it seems like it's not OK to say, "hey, is this overpriced, or is it just me?" without someone jumping your shit. This is aside from a bitchfest about craft beer prices.

Thanks for making my point.

Certain BA's have a White Knight syndrome with Boston Beer Co., Budweiser's lager brewing skills and small brewery prices. I don't get it.

I have a hard time complaining about even a $20 four pack when it is still noticeably cheaper per oz than what we've been paying for bombers.

I agree, and I don't complain about prices myself. But I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing them. Doesn't make you an entitled millennial, John Calvin hating socialist.

For example, it still puzzles me that something like Belching Beaver PB stout is $.36oz in bombers but $.16oz in 6 packs. I've spoken with my wallet...I didn't buy PB stout in 22's, I now buy it in 6 packs. Simple.

But it doesn't change the fact that breweries know that psychologically a $8, 22 ounce is palatable to a consumer but a $26, 6 pack is not. I think it's OK to discuss the fact that either we're getting a smoking deal on a 6 pack, or getting rammed for a 22.

Also, if it's ok to compliment a brewery on their great prices, it's ok to say a brewery has shitty prices.

Sure it is. But many times there is a strong sentiment behind those comments that the brewery is doing something morally wrong (gouging). I disagree with that strongly.

The OP wasn't making any protest of a morally unjust pricing structure. It seemed to me he was just curious about the margins. I often wonder about them myself. No mention of gouging (which is inappropriate for a product like this). I think everyone agrees breweries aren't charities and understand they need to make profit. No one needs to be reminded of that.

It's not strange at all for volume to be priced lower though, which is what's happening in your example. I'm still more likely to buy the bomber, as it's rare that I want 72oz of any one beer.

    Agreed!
They are not doing anything wrong, you're right that it is the sentiment a lot of times. I just think the OP was pretty neutral in his post even though he suggested that breweries may be acting somewhat opportunistically.

It's like being on an A/V forum and saying Monster cables are a ripoff and then being ridiculed for it. HDMI cables are a luxury, but shit, I sure think I have the right to say $75 is outrageous for a 6' cable. Anyhow, I'll drop it.

I always thought the users on AV-related forums were pretty unanimous in their opposition to Monster (or similar) cables.

Monsters are expensive, but I have to say that I've had the same pair of cables to connect my turntables to my mixer for over 10 years. So they definitely last. Do people say there is a another cheaper brand that gets the job done as well?

There's no discernible difference between cables really. Cables in general are marked up pretty high. When I worked retail, the mark up was around 75%, even with generic cables. I think I read that There may be a performance difference when you're running very long cables but for something like connecting turntables to an amp, you're totally fine with generic.

Biggest ripoff "gold-plated" connectors. Oh man.....most of the time they were worse.

The connectors are pretty good from Monster. That's the difference. Or at least that was the difference 15 years ago.

I was thinking $16 a 4 pk of contains no juice was a bit pricey on Saturday until I realized they were 16oz cans and that cellarmaker was charging $27 just to fill a growler of double dobis.
Both scenario came out to 64oz of beer.
