It's so strange that people are very price sensitive about 4 and 6 packs but no other packaging format. Noble Ale Works can charge $24 for a 64oz growler ($.37/oz) fill of Citra Showers and nobody bats an eye. $8.99 for a 22oz bomber ($.40/oz) is normal and nobody ever complains those beers are too expensive. But if your 4/6 pack is more than $10, your beer is suddenly crazy expensive and out of the realm of normalcy. Meanwhile, people happily pay $6 for a 12oz pour of the same beer ($.50/oz)

Monkish is actually making less money selling you cans than they would selling you a growler, and they charge roughly the same price for both. And nobody ever bitched about the growler price.

I see nothing strange about the $4-5/can pricing model these beers come in at, it seems right on par with every other form of beer packaging if not cheaper.

It's a byproduct of their perceived function more than a strict price-per-ounce issue. People view six packs as daily drinkers, something to stick in the fridge and have one or two per night, whereas other formats - bombers and growlers for example - are more "special," in that they're something you have one of.

Obviously it's quite silly when you view it on a price-per-ounce basis, but I would imagine it's an artifact of beer's evolution from the everyman's beverage that you buy in bulk to something that's priced, viewed, and consumed more like wine (whether that's good or bad is an entirely separate discussion). There's always going to be a big portion of the market that thinks that way, even in craft beer, but assessing the value small batch beers like Monkish IPAs using the same metrics as breweries like Stone or Lagunitas is largely useless.

You can get a six pack of Mike Hess Solis 16 ouncers for 13 bucks usually (unless you get at Bevmo, then you're looking at 16 -17 bucks.

They also have the super cool cans where the entire top comes off. This is one of the best IPAs that exist.

I will eat a bug if you buy this and don't like it.

Generally, anything purchased at a grocery outlet is way old.

This. I almost never buy growler fills because of how much small breweries charge for them. I typically look at a six pack of 12oz cans and divide the price by 3 and decide if I would willingly pay that much for a bomber. If the answer is yes then it is a good price. Similarly, if I would willingly pay half the price of one of these new four packs for a 32oz growler of the same beer then it is a good deal. It all comes down to quality really. You either have a beer you like enough to keep buying or you don't.
