pint glass vs. snifter

Try an experiment. Pour equal amounts into both glasses and see results for yourself.

I've done it with a pint, teku, snifter, and flight glass. I can't say the taste is very much affected, but there are clear difference in aroma.

 

Snifter please. I prefer to drink with my pinkie raised like the pillar of class that I am.

 

I've been really enjoying can cups for IPAs. They have the coca cola branded one at my local dollar tree (everything is $1) so im never worried about breaking them.

 

I'm a big fan of snifters. Captures aroma better in my opinion.

 

Or go for the whole Maß!

 

I like to collect pint glasses, but outside of a bar, I never consider drinking any of my beers at home in one. Tulips,pilsners, or snifters get my vote. Just add to the experience.

 

at a bar I tend to order tulip beers. when I am home Its pints and snifters.

 

I think you'd get kicked in the balls if you drank a Helles out of a snifter in Munich.

Snifter when at home. Behind closed doors, I'm a swirler. And much like drinking wine, I get my nose IN the glass.

 

Pint glasses were never supposed to be used to drink beer...

 

I usually drink from a teku because I'm a pretentious douchebag. Let me tell you about my teku and why your snifter is the wrong way to drink.

Seriously though, tekus are great.

 

I tend to drink a lot of high ABV beers, so I typically drink from either a tulip or snifter (snifter for stouts). I'll drink IPAs from a pint, and occasionally DIPAs from a pint (usually a tulip), because taking a big gulp of beer from a pint glass reminds me of being in a pub.

If I were to only choose one glass to drink out of, it'd definitely be my Half Acre tulip, though.

 

When people fill snifters to the brim it takes away the whole point of using the glass. A snifter is full when it is filled just under its widest point, this way it concentrates aromas when you put your nose inside the glass

 

i am quite fond of my dc brau 16oz tulip. use it for pretty much everything. I also have some 12 oz tulips that I use for those annoying 11.2oz beers.

 

Glassware makes a huge difference! Try drinking beer out of a test tube and then lick some off a plate [I've done both...]I really think there may be the perfect glass out there-a 'golden ratio' glass..

 

I'm a huge fan of snifter/tulips/goblets/tekus.
Although I do own a bunch of pint glasses, I almost always use a snifter or tulip

I drank an Old Brown Dog from a snifter once. It tasted funny. I actually love drinking from a shaker pint. Most beers I brew are middle-of-the-road pales and bitters. Meant to be drank casually as part of the evening, not an 'experience'. IPAs go in a tulip or teku, snifter/wine glass for strong ales, old ales, barleywines, RIS's, stouts and porters either a mug or shaker. Belgians go in the appropriately branded chalice or a wine glass.

 

We're still talking about beer, right?
