If I were to drive to Chicago on any given day how easy is it to find their beer? I'm in Madison WI. Citra Ninja and Blood of the Unicorn are 2 I would definitely want.
The River North Binnys is pretty well stocked, too (213 W. Grand). Usually, at least - they got cleared out of a lot of their bottles on Thursday afternoon/evening (so unless they had more in the back, no more Coffee Break Abduction, NvU... other stuff I can't think of right now). And OP, you won't find any Citra Ninja. Maybe Galaxy Unicorn (use BeerMenus to look up where -- I think Noble Grape was still showing that they had some when I checked Thursday or Friday).
Dangit - just missed the edit window. I should clarify, OP, that you won't find any Citra Ninja today or in the immediate future. They made that beer a few months back now and aren't planning to release any more for a few more weeks yet.
Citra Ninja won't happen. Doubtful for Galaxy Unicorn as well. But the new batch of Ninja vs Unicorn was released this week so u may find it. If not and you want something hoppy from them, definitely grab a Santa vs Unicorn. It's a fantastic hoppy red barleywine. For some reason that one's not flying off the shelf like thier IPAs, but it's fantastic.
A couple suburban binnys are getting PW on the reg now. Might save you an hr or so if you stopped at downers grove or naperville. Not sure if the far NW suburbs are getting their stuff yet. Then again, if youre driving from madison, you might as well make the full trek to the big city and hit up some other good spots. (see 45 other threads re: 'good bars in chicago')
Shhhh. I like having a store a few minutes from where I live that gets good beers that isn't too well known
Saw about 6-8 different bottles at Binny SL, and a couple at Binny Express Hyde Park this past weekend. Wasn't looking too hard since most of the trip outside of IP trades wasn't beer related
west lakeview always has a good stock of pipeworks too. had a bunch of jester king stuff too last time I went so good chance of getting something good there
