I'll say I liked it but didn't love it. To anyone out there who was on the fence about it given the price point, I'd say you're alright passing on this one.

    I’m on team Tip Top

Only had a few maibock so far this year. My favorite last year was between Pollyanna and Tighthead. This is up there with those.

it’s got nice gentle old world hop aroma. Initially, it’s got a bitter hop character but that quickly leads to honey biscuit type malt character that I think defines the style, and that flavor lingers for a while. Medium bodied. Dangerously drinkable. Yea it’s 14.99, but it’s good and it’s a niche style that barely anyone does. I’m happy I’ve got 3 more. Pollyanna will be up next after these are gone

Holy fuck Tip Top is incredible. It’s such a beautiful balance of ingredients. And it’s CREAMY. Old world styles can be creamy!? I’m Ron Burgundy!?

Did Even Juicier Drive Thru Meatballs get a wide distro? It's not popping up where I would expect it. Was going to place a delivery order from one of my regular stores. Any recommendations for a good substitute?

I think I got mine at Liquor Park a while ago - didn’t seem like they had much of it. I was looking for Terrordome, and they had already sold out. Maybe give liquor park a call to see if they still have any? Or garfields? I like it a lot. But also I’m primarily drinking stouts from 2017, so hops are a nice change of pace and I am rationing them.

I may start working on my case of barrel-aged pipeworks this weekend. End of Days, anyone?

Let us know how this held up. One of my all time faves from PW.

Thanks to this, I opened my last Pipeworks BA bottle tonight ('18 Ruby Port Abduction). Fresh I wasn't a fan, but with a couple years on it, its fantastic. Tons of dark chocolate, cherry, tobacco notes.

Were those Abduction variants the last barrel-aged beers that Pipeworks released?

I thought the last batch of BA beers was The Jones Dog / Hyper Dog / Coconut / Sundae / Cognac / Apple Brandy drop

That might be what I'm confusing the Abduction series with.

Good to hear. I popped a 2018 Jones Dog recently and it was most likely infected.

Curious to hear others’ thoughts. I’ve been critical of PW pumping out a new heavily adjuncted pastry stout seemingly every week this past fall and winter (before COVID hit) and never bought any. Once COVID hit I thought it’d be nice to have some variety in the fridge so I bought a can of pothole city and coconut/almond imperial jones dog. Cracked open both over the past couple weeks. I find the adjunct treatment to be well executed and taste pretty natural and not overly in your face, but I find the base stout to be unpleasant. It’s thin, bitter and slightly metallic. It has none of the chocolate creamy goodness we all seem to crave so much in stouts in today’s day and age. Not that I’m a THICC boyeee or diabetes junky. Far from it. I just don’t like the base stout at all. Anyone else feel similar, different, or whatever? Thx. Hope everyone is staying safe.

I've been beer free for a few weeks, but the last few stouts I had from there weren't great, to be honest.

Easy Keepers was my favorite; an English stout without a bunch of goop in it. It wasn't amazing, but I'd have it again in a pinch.

Sundae Sauce was...terrible, frankly. It tasted of rotten cherries to me.

Your Brain On Brunch was drinkable but I wouldn't ever buy it again. Too much fenugreek!!

Happy to report that The Abduction (Winter 2018) is still drinking amazing. Such a great example of a straight up BB imperial stout.

Solo’d a Jones Dog 2017 last night. What a treat.

my impression: 2017 Jones dog tastes like the first time you truly appreciated Bourbon County

(I know they are different styles - but they are big, boozy, bold, thick, silky, chocolatey, complex animals.)

Tip Top Maibock is excellent! Well executed and true to style (says I). Drinks like a crisp lager instead of a 6.8% bock.

I poured myself a glass of Pothole City tonight.
    1. Holy freaking crap is it tasty!
    2. As I was pouring, my 4- year-old walked by, stopped, backed up, and said “That SMELLS like chocolate milk but it doesn’t look like chocolate milk! Whaaaaat are yooooouuuuu DRINKING??? Is it MAAAAAAAAGIC????” I have no idea how to interpret this.
