that's very interesting, most times I find that type of beer over hyped with the imbued flavor!
You got my interest peeked I got to try some of Pipeworks beer's

    Bubaloo,

I have not tried any of the others. I won't let one bad apple spoil the bunch though. I'm hoping when I buy the Mint Truffle one that I get some cherry flavoring. There may be a method to the madness. It's like a puzzle you have to figure out.

Taste is subjective obviously but i like the abduction series for the most part, coffee break abduction is my favorite of the ones I've had, which include raspberry, mocha, orange, cherry, mint and regular. Raspberry is better than cherry to me. I think people knock abduction a little because of the body, it's not motor oil thick like old raspy or darkness etc..., but I'm of the opinion that not every imperial stout has to be that thick to be good.

Totally agree Shredder. About the consistency that is. For an Imperial Stout I definitely thought it would be thicker and less carbonated. To me, this one was a bit like a lager with some flavoring. But hey, to each their own. That's why we have these conversations. I saw many movies Ebert crapped on and loved them. I always thought "he's just one guy"....

You won't be disappointed by their ipas, that's for sure. Anything from their "ninja" series is excellent, i.e. citra ninja, simcoe ninja, but they had to drop the ninja from the names because of a conflict with another brewery.

Their barleywines are all very solid too, seasonal, but they do like 4 or 5 a year. Murderous was the bw that got me to realize that i prefer English style barleywine better than highly hopped American ones.

There is a Pipeworks release thread in the Great Lakes forum. Your post would probably be more well received there.

Ahh internet trolls -- best to ignore them @BeerIsSoDelicious. Trolls really do waste our time, though, writing posts that have nothing to do with "beer talk."

I may have to try this. Point being, I am not usually a fan of cherries in beer (or in any drink, for that matter -- always gives me bad memories of overly sweet medicines and overly sweet cherry pop), so if I drink it and think it's pretty good, then chances are you are correct -- the cherries must be missing.

Definitely love Pipeworks, though. If this is a "miss" (to some), it's not indicative of the brewery itself -- good stuff comes from those brewers.

I was excited that this was gonna be one of the beers i was looking forward to on Super Bowl Sunday. Hope its still good  Have Mocha Abduction so that will probably be the winner. Really interested in Mint abduction and Orange truffle.

The only Abduction in the series that was a miss (IMO) was Passion Fruit.

Ive had the raspberry abduction and i thought it was delicious. Im actually sitting on a bottle of cherry right now. I dont think ill like it as much as the raspberry, but it should still be good!

That's why there is an entire section of this site devoted to reviews and expressing opinions. If anything, a thread expressly devoted to lamenting over a single beer is its own form of trolling.

I have been pretty disappointed with the various abductions and weirder flavored beers. Ninja v Unicorn, and the Ninja single hop beers are nice, and the collaborations with 4-hands have been getting a lot of buzz, but these days I pretty much only ever pick up pipeworks to order for trades when I go to Cali for work.

Apparently they are going into cans in a couple of months time, but until I start seeing $10-12 4 packs of Ninja v Unicorn cans, I am out - I can't justify their price point when there are a lot of similar beers in 4 packs or 6 packs for way less. I mean, put it this way, I picked up Permanent Funeral for $11, and Pipeworks wants $10 for their DIPAs?

Don't get me wrong, they are nice beers, and Pipeworks certainly aren't alone in their pricing around Chicago (I am looking at your Arcade and Solemn Oath), but when you are only hitting 50% of the time, I can't bring myself to keep taking the chance on an expensive beer...

Yes. The OP is correct. Very little cherry in this batch. At least no one will compare it to cough syrup.

I really like that pipeworks takes a lot of chances. I think they make good stuff most of time and I consider myself lucky to get their stuff locally and easily. I haven't opened my bottle of cherry truffle abduction, but I won't be too broken up if it's a stinker.

I've found that each batch of Cherry is very different. Raspberry and Toasty Nut are far more consistent and better.
