I've had a few of the abduction stouts and I haven't had cherry yet. The only one I couldn't even handle (and was unfortunately a drain pour) was passion abduction. It smelled and tasted of rotten fruit. It was a bit tart so maybe it was an infected bottle....

I had one last week...someone abducted the cherry. I'm with you OP.

I had a mint truffle abduction that a buddy had tried before me and he tasted no mint whatsoever. It was all I could taste was mint, like mint overload, no way we had the same tasting beer. I have also tried raspberry truffle (awesome, tons of raspberry, coffee break (amazing) and toasty nut (I hated it and I love coconut). So I'm thinking that some of these abductions might not be blending perfectly. Possibly some of the added flavors are settling on bottom or floating on top. I cant think of why else some bottles are intense and some are very disappointing. Still a great brewery that has pumped out a ton of great beers. Nothing but respect for those guys.

Pipeworks does not distro to Minnesota, but I have traded for some of their beers in the past. From the Abduction series I have tried Cherry, Orange, and Mocha. All three were not bad, but not great either. While I enjoyed them, I knew I would not be trading for them again.

With that said, if I could pick them up locally and not add on shipping charges, I would give them second chances.

I enjoyed it and was happy to find the cherries were an afterthought. Some reviews made it seem like the cherries dominated the beer.

    My 2 cents:
I did a vertical of all the batches of the abduction series not too long ago and also had the opportunity to speak to one of the PW brewers about it subsequently. What I found out was that:
They used more fruit in the original batches and also used some fruit in the secondary. Everyone at my share felt that the 1st abduction batches had more aroma and taste.
However, it seems like there were some complaints of the bottles exploding or turning sour due to the fruit in the secondary.
As a result, in subsequent batches they were only adding fruit in the primary and that seems to have reduced some of that fruitiness.

Also, mint abduction seems to age really well.

Uhhh, there are tons of threads about single beers posted on here all the time. Why the hostility?

Anyway, I have not tried the Cherry Abduction but I had raspberry. It was tasty but not as good as Founder's Big Lushious. There was definitely some abduction of the raspberries!

Cool post Beerissodelicous and welcome to BA. I drank a Budapest Gambit while watching the Super Bowl. It was really amazing and I wish I had more! Over the weekend I bought every single type of Pipeworks they had at Binny's. My wife didn't say anything about it, but I guess that is the reason she has been mad at me the last few days! Last year there was a take over the bar event for Pipeworks in the city during craft beer week. It was busier than an Irish bar in Chicago on St Patricks day!
