Pitching dry yeast

    I wish I could translate sarcasm into the written word better. Because then I could tell you how I rehydrate when I use dry yeast and since that is what I do that must be the best option and no other option is worth considering. Not only do I rehydrate yeast I use warm water straight from the kitchen sink to do it I don't even boil it. I also run with scissors I'm so Daring.

    Pick your battles. My not using dry yeast is one of them.

    What about making a starter with dry yeast :stuck_out_tongue:. I've done it lol

    Not sure if you are just kidding but FWIW,

    Making a starter with dry yeast is actually counter productive. Dry yeast is packaged after the oxygen uptake phase whereas liquid is not. So just use two packages. Plus it's less expensive. And less chance of contamination. And quicker.

    Just did this with the beer I brewed yesterday. One packet of Munton's Dry Ale Yeast into a NE DIPA. Visible activity in under 8 hours. High krausen this morning. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
