Hey Pittsburgh BA's, I am traveling through town tomorrow on my way from the airport up to Tionesta. I was wondering if anyone could chime in and tell me if its worth my time to go to both McBroom's and House of 1000 beers, or if the selection remains generally the same at both stores. I will have a rental car so I could do both if the selection merits it, but don't want to drive all over if they are essentially the same.

    Cheers!

I am not directly a PGH BA, but I get down there fairly often. I can't speak to what is on your way or out of the way, but I have been to House of 1000 Beers and would recommend it. Between the 2 of us that went, we spent a pretty nice amount of money. (Would have spent more if we had known that we wouldn't find anything comparable on that trip.) There were a lot of beers without dates, but I don't recall either of us getting a bad beer. Plus, we found a few rarities, to us anyway, and looking back, wish we'd have splurged on a few more of them. And we didn't even get anything on tap. From what I've read, they can get some gems there too.

I'm sorry I can't compare the 2 places for you, but I can assure you, at least as of last summer, House of 1000 Beers is more than worth the trip.

You bet. I hope someone else can chime in to answer your specific question. Good luck either way.
