Everbody seems to be thoroughly impressed with Roundabout. I stopped in there two weeks ago and left empty handed. It's not that the beer was terrible but I have better options homebrewed or already purchased at home. Are they the best the area has to offer? I dunno could be. The bar is set awfully low.

I really enjoy Pacific Ring. It's a very nice display of Nelson Sauvin hops so it's somewhat delicate and subtle while still being flavorful. It's not an in-your-face IPA like Head Hunter or Idle Hands.

They also did a mosaic Saison which was very good. Their Hy-Pa is a very enjoyable hopped up pale. They put out a bretted stout that people loved (not my thing). The Commoner was a cool little warm fermented steam beer.

I am there about once every 2 weeks to fill a growler or something. I like them quite a bit. I think they aren't just good by Pittsburgh standards (Full Pint is good by Pittsburgh standards and I think very little of them). Roundabout is an all-around good upstart.

I'll have to try and make it. I live less than 20 minutes away and have been there a number of times. I don't twitter or facebook, so is this happening at the brewery? It's a little tight down there.

They're going to open the garage door on the side that opens up into the actually brewing area with all the tanks and whatnot.

Happy to report that I've overcome my prejudice of Brew Gentlemen & the one beer I've had from them (Build & Destroy, their imperial wheat stout) was pretty impressive.

I'm looking forward to Roundabout's DIPA release on the 1 year anniversary. I was at the brewery yesterday and talked with the brewer. He said it's a mix of nelson sauvin and galaxy hops. That's got to be good. It's going to be called Uncommon Love due to the mixture of Australian (galaxy) and NZ (nelson) hops.

Next to sweet or english, the two things I don't want my ipa to be are delicate and subtle.

Tried the saison. It was fine. Didn't need 64 or 32 ounces of it. Had Pacific Ring and some barrel aged stout that had no business being put in a barrel to begin with. The Hy-Pa wasn't on at the time.

I'm glad you like them. I likely won't be going back anytime soon.

Roundabout is very solid. The Pacific Ring is much more Cascade than the Nelson which is why I can't wait for the Nelson and Galaxy DIPA to come out. The Saison was much more like a mosaic hopped Belgian Pale Ale than a true Saison but it was pretty tasty. Last week they had a stawberry Brett Beer on that was really really really good. It didn't last long at all. I go there about 1-2 times a week at least. They are by far the best brewery in the area to me.

In the city, they are the best imo. In SW PA, they are still a half step behind Helltown but I really like what they are doing.

I already talked the fiancee into going to the 1 year BBQ so if you are going to be there, let me know so I can say hi.

Roundabout and Hop Farm both OK but nothing beyond that right now. Time will tell if they get a bit more interesting.

I will be going for sure. Was there last night and the new batch of HY-PA is great. I wasn't a fan when I had it before but this new batch is something else. Really crushable and juicy. I can't remember what hops other than Montueka it had before but it says Amarillo is in it now which seems to be a change for the best. Every batch he does of everything seems to get more dialed in and better and better. I agree on Helltown they do great stuff as well just wish they were a bit closer.

^previous batch was Centennial. And yes, I agree the Amarillo is definitely a step in the right direction. Another beer for the anniversary party is aging now on fresh, local blueberries. I forget the base beer though.

I was there once and it's barely worth going to. He just has a big garage. I'd rather stay in the city and find it on draft personally.

Yes. This was January so they didn't have the set up they do now from what I can see on Facebook. It was cool to see something that grassroots but I was going with the intention on sitting at a bar, talking for a while with bartenders, etc.

I live in the east end of the city but I work in Leetsdale and take 65 everyday. On my drive in this morning, I noticed a new brewery right on 65 that looks to be opening soon. The name is Auroch's Brewing right in Emsworth. Doing a little research, they will be a gluten-free brewery. So my interest went from 10 to 1 in the blink of an eye. It's cool for anyone with Celiac's but outside of that, yawn...

There's at least a market for that though. Not so much for more Brown Ales, Mosaic Sessions, or Pittsburgh-style (aspirin water) Saisons...

Be gone with your logic. It has no place on an internet message board.

Is anyone who is going to the Roundabout BBQ this weekend interested in an IP trade for 4 Alpha Kings? They were bottled on 6/26. Second time trying it and still don't care for it. I really don't care what you give me in return. Just something that's not shit.
