It has been a while since Pittsburgh BAs have gathered together for a public bottle share. The kind folks at 99 Bottles in Carnegie have agreed to host us! Please bring a bomber or two (or a few 12oz bottles) per person to share with the crowd. The only other admission is that we ask you make a purchase from our hosts (food or beer). We are looking at October 20th with a start time of 3pm (event page awaiting approval).

Please send me a message if you have any questions.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and Cheers!!!

I might be interested in this. What kind of bombers are we bringing? Just anything? Rare treats?

    Good question...

Here is a deep thinking answer...bring what you feel represents you well as a beer advocate.

Got this question a few times so I thought I would post...

We would be more than happy to have homebrews represented!

How long do you think people will hang out for? As of right now, I would be there around 530. What is everyone thinking of bringing?

Curse my occupation and how it has me work every Saturday! I've met one whole person on this site so far and it's rare that I ever get to sit down and share with beer enthusiasts (basically nothing outside of random convos at the beer stores). My friends can appreciate some craft beer and I like to share with them but it's not the same as talking to peeps that know their shit (considering I figure myself for a novice still so it rings hollow to me being the best versed on the subject in a group). Ah well, maybe some other time. I'll hold onto that bottle of Old Raspy XIV in the closet a little longer JIC I can make a meet up one day.

Dreaded. I will be in DC that weekend. We should do this monthly/bi-monthly. I have stuff I'd love to share with other lovers of high quality beverage.

We tried doing this a while back, when we all first met. Alas, finding venues to host became more work than any of us wanted/had time to do. That is why the core group of us stuck together and we do tastings fairly regularly at someones house. We decided as a group to do a public tasting like this to get out and meet and interact with some new BAs. By all means if anyone checking this thread wants to step up and run with an idea like this or any other, I dont think there should be a problem in getting the support for us the community. I know personally I'd be in for more regular gatherings.

I am sure people will be hanging out for quite some time. When we did these on a regular basis a few years ago, I seem to remember them lasting at least 4 hours...

Not sure what I am bringing yet...I will probably blindly grab two bombers out of my beer cooler right before take-off...

I am trying to convince the good people at 99 bottles to secure a "special" beer for the event (awaiting a Shuggy comment :grinning: ). We need to get some more attendee confirmations...between this event page http://beeradvocate.com/events/info/57379 and the Facebook Pittsburgh Craft Beer group event page. Hopefully this is one of the biggest bottle shares ever!

Guess I will give this a little bump.

On a side note, this was my idea to kind of resurrect this idea. Unfortunately it seems that this might turn out the same way the last one did. A lot of talk leading up to it, and then only a few people showing up. Hope this is not the case though. Figured since its been about a year or so since we last tried doing one of these publicly there would be more BAs who were interested. Ive seen quite a few new names that I dont recognize replying to threads about Pittsburgh info and such yet not a lot of intrest in actully drinking beer? Weird. Anyways, I really looking forward to this and cant wait for saturday. Looking forward to meeting some new BAs, and I guess Im looking forward to hanging out with those of you I usually hang out with.

    Cheers,
    Sam

Yeah, it was kind of embarrassing telling Bocktown we were expecting 20-30 people & then have none of the 'Maybes' & less than half the 'Ins' show up. A good time nonetheless, but do you remember all the empty tables around us?

Wish I could make this one.
