I don't think any of the Voodoo barrel room beers were hoppy or had Mosaic (Nate mentioned that it was a "barrel room tapping")...maybe this is an additional Voodoo craft beer week release that you're hearing about?

by the way h2p is all simcoe this year

we are also working on an event at carson street deli with lavery and one at kelly's, stay tuned

Straight from FB - "Our Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week beer is in the tank. A lot of you had been asking us to do this again, we were happy to oblige. We tweaked it a little bit, which we believe will make it better, hence HTP -> H2P. It's all Simcoe this year, and it's a hop bomb. H2P draft will be available in Pittsburgh for Beer Week and at the Pub in limited quantities."

Yeah, I think that's separate from what Nate was talking about at ho1kb

last year was a lot of fun. I ended up doing the founders tap takeover at the library on carson st, then did the stout tasting at double wide. Then i blacked out and had no clue how i got home.

cpxc, i did the exact same thing last year. Curmudgeon's Better Half was incredible. I'd love to drink that again some day. worldwide stout verticals were great too. Events like that are why I love craft beer week

Can someone from PCBW let us know when events will show up on the calendar? Thanks in advance.

To have an event listed, venues need to sponsor at some level, & they just opened sponsorship earlier this week. Seems to be slowing the gears some. There's plenty of buzz on social media outlets about what's going on, when, where. Ironically, the least helpful place to look for info on events is the PCBW website, at least for the time being.

I guess I am having a hard time understanding what value there is in sponsorship to the consumer. What is the money used for? Like you pointed out every business has access to social media and no venue is giving away beer for free. $500 to promote something like a tap takeover would really cut into the profit for a sparsely attended event. What seemed like a good idea might not look that great in the 3rd year.

I understand your confusion, Ed. I can see the benefit for consumers & businesses to have a centralized, "one-stop-shop" source for information, but businesses seem to be perfectly capable of grassroots self-promotion. I'm sure a good chunk goes to promotion materials (posters, coasters, shirts, etc.), but kinda doubt that swag accounts for ALL of it. This is just hearsay, but I heard that the Craft Beer Alliance had a sizable chunk of money left over after the FIRST year, when the clamoring for sponsorship didn't seem to be nearly at the level at is now.

This is nice to know actually because I feel completely in the blind on this thing whenever I go to that site. As someone who works afternoons and weekends I literally have to request days off if I want to go to any of these events and I have no clue what anyone is doing that looks interesting so far. It's more or less why I haven't participated in anything in the previous two years. Well, that and being a socially awkward workaholic who doesn't know how to take time off. So, the usual...

The beer is a collaboration between Hop Farm Brewing Co and Box Office Brew Review. (There were other parties previously involved but left the project)

What you experienced on tap was the pilot (not the final version)... we just bottled Margot and it is stellar.

7.5% ABV imperial berliner weisse... it's scary how easy this beer drinks.

There will be an extremely limited amount of hand numbered wax dipped bottles available during PCBW (more details will come- follow Box Office Brew Review and Hop Farm on Facebook for the most accurate; up to date information.)

    Here is the final label:

May 3rd from 1-5 @ Highmark Stadium. I am pretty pumped about this one after looking over the list of breweries who are going to be there.

    I'm definitely going.

As of now, there are 13 events up on the website. There have got to be more to come - a lot of the sponsors don't have anything listed yet, & I know of some events being planned that won't be listed on the site.

PCBW 2013 had over 275 events listed on the calender so what changed about this year?

Compared to last year, the website is a lot harder to navigate than it should be. Also, there were more events listed earlier. I'm not sure what PCBW is doing, but it sounds like unless you pay to be a sponsor, you aren't getting your event on the website.

I don't know what has changed (if anything), but it seems to have been handled much better last year.

Regardless, I'm excited for the Voodoo event at the House, and hopefully another Bells and Founders tap takeover somewhere.

Seems like a good many of the businesses who have sponsored just don't have their happenings listed yet - for instance, I don't think Piper's or Bocktown have any events listed now, but I'm sure they will. It also sounds like a lot of places just aren't sponsoring. Though they 're hosting events, I just assume that they'll be using their own individual vehicles for promotion. Ho1KB isn't a sponsor, for example, though they have a few things planned.
