With Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week starting a month from today, & the previous thread apparently gone, I figured I'd start a new one to discuss some of the PCBW goings-on. Info can be found at www.pittsburghcraftbeerweek.com .

So yeah, just in general: Who's going to what? What looks interesting? Any contributors care to chime in? What's the buzz?

The most interesting thing to me is the sour & funky beers at the House. More info is needed as to what beers are going to be showcased though since $45 for a bunch of Lindemans wouldn't be worth it. Outside of that everything looks exactly as I figured it would. Nothing worth attending. Maybe Black Note will show up at Harris? What's with all the hikes?

The bottles in my fridge are more interesting than everything going on during the whole week combined.

Think of it this way: you get 20% off to-go with your ticket, so all you gotta do is get a ticket, buy $225 worth of stuff to go, the ticket pays for itself & then you get the tasting for free!

Seriously, though, I think we've got a pretty good line-up scheduled. Looking at about 30 different sour & bretted beers (including, yes, some Lindemans).

Are you working there now? What have you got lined up?

I am. We plan to have a range, from easier-to-find stuff (Lindemans, Orval, Duchesse, et al.) to some rarer offerings, & plenty of goodies in between. You should stop by sometime & check out the list.

Looks like Friday's going to be a drinking day at Ellwoods and Beermuda, since I live in between the 2.

Yeah, it's cool to see some places off the beaten path get in on the action. Nice spots, too.

Looks like a bunch more events were just added to the calendar since this morning.

Is that the Ellwoods that's near, like, Russelton and Deer Lakes???

The same. I always feel like I'm camping when I go in there.

Whoa. I used to go there back in the day with my friend's parents. They must have changed it a bit if it is now participating in Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week. Not that it was ever necessarily a dive, per se, but it definitely wasn't a craft beer-oriented bar. I will have to make another stop.

I wouldnt expect Black Note at Harris. They had a Bells event a few months ago and it was all pretty much off the shelf, year round beers.

They may spice it up for CBW though!

I should have put an emoticon on that when I typed it as I don't expect Black Note or anything special to be there.

This is exactly what I was talking about in the original thread. Its craft beer week for Christ's sake. Time to step it up. So this place decides to do the same exact thing they did six months ago? Way to be imaginative.

So a bunch more events have been added & I felt the thread deserved some fresh air.

There certainly is a lot of events but it is basically the same thing repeated over and over at a different location on a different day. There is the House event, a few IPA challenges, a couple of dinners, and a hundred tap takeovers/tastings revolving around the same four breweries.

What the hell is wrong with the links to the site? Everything's down.

i don't understand why they are trying to do this in april and not build of the success of the highly popular steel city big pour. a full week of events leading up to that makes more sense to me. also, did the planners not know that the big tap in is the 21st as well? every year i've been to it, its been a ton of people from pittsburgh there. just seems pretty haphazard to me.

Link isn't working for me either. It looks like one of those generic sites.

For some reason, it's only working from my smartphone.

Hmm interesting. It just worked from my laptop but not the several public computers I tried earlier today. Strange.
