Draai Laag is releasing one of their pilot batches tonight:

    Apples & Pears
Belgian pale malt base with Belgian saison yeast, white wine yeast, brett. Fermented on apples, pears, and elderflowers.

Just a reminder that our Berliner Weisse will go on tap when we open Sunday at Noon. I know for some of you we may as well be on the fucking Moon but it is worth the pain of driving in, I promise.

Do we not have many South Hillers or something?

I'm a South Hill resident. Only about a 5 minute drive from Hitchhiker.

I haven't been to Hitchhiker in I can't even remember, but I'm going to try to stop in Monday or Tuesday to try the new beer.

Edit: Looks like Monday is not an option, as they are closed.

South Hills here too, 10-15 from HH.

But I was under the impression that many/most in the immediate Pittsburgh area on this thread, reside east or north.

I'm not. Actually wasn't even aware of this event until a day or two ago when someone posted information on it.

does it have a confederate flag painted on the roof and a gun rack on the back of the cab?

I really want to make it to this fest in the next few years, but I heard getting tickets is insane. Payment is by mail only, right? And then you are put into a lottery for tickets?

Think so. Unless you are local for in-person sale, it's mail lottery.

Pretty interesting article in newest BA about The Commons Brewery using yogurt for souring. Anyone know if any Pittsburgh area breweries/home brewers have experimented with this technique?

Does it mention if it adds anything of value that straight lacto wouldn't?

Moved on to hazy IPAs (also good article) and then a movie with the wife. I'll circle back and fill in the blanks.

On a side note, did my first trip to BG today and was favorably impressed. Did a modest taster tour before retreating with a growler.

Kind of had the day off today so I ran up to Vintage Estate. Still no Oro Negro. The guy I talked to there thought it was hitting distro next week which meant they would have it the following week. Very weak JO selection in general too which was 95% of my reason for going up there. BA Brick Kiln, Mystic Mama, and some horseshit fruity wheat beer that I had a while back and hated.

I was kinda disappointed about it being gone so quick. But the bartendress said they'll have it tm at the brew fest. And I'm supposedly volunteering so Hopefully I can get a tester.
