I took my sweet time getting to Draai Laag despite being six minutes away. Got there at 17:18- gone. Had a draft and was actually less disappointed. Could have been the booze, but I wasn't in love with it. The red briar I had was something else. The pienture was very good obviously, but I just wasn't in love. I very much like DL though overall. Havent had a bad beer thus far.

I didn't really care all that much for Black Briar, but I love Red. I bought a bottle of Blue, but ended up giving it to a buddy. I'll snag another one on the next release. I think they said it wouldn't be back until 2016, but I can wait.

Sometimes when I'm bored at work, I aimlessly browse through local brewery's untappd check ins to see what the experts are saying about the beers. And for amusement. Stumbled upon this little tidbit this morning- I saw a few check ins for Voodoo BOC with coconut. I didn't get to try the PB but coconut sounds good in my book, I wonder when it's coming out. I like the regular BOC enough on its own, I might try to make the trip depending on when it comes out.

I keep seeing more and more out of towners mentioning Draai Laag. Are they building up a bit of a name?

Maybe so. When their beers are "on", they can be really, really good. Quality control has clearly been an issue that they continue to battle though.

I've only been once for the Briar release plus the R2. I thought the R2 was similar to water in every way possible. I had the Black Briar which I greatly enjoyed. I traded the Blue as an extra and still have the Red in my basement.

Agreed. They seem to be really responsive to issues as well which helps. Good customer service goes a long way.

Draai Laag and Brew Gentlemen, while they have had their hiccups, are the breweries that I find myself following and enjoying most often.

Man, I can drink the hell out of the R2. Easy drinking but with enough flavor and a low Abv. to enjoy during the work week.

I sadly sent my last Briar to a friend in Florida. I look forward to another Briar release for sure.

My only beef with DL is their no children policy. It's right down the hill from our home, but we find ourselves driving all the way to Braddock to go to Brew Gentlemen instead since it's a family friendly establishment.

Maybe I'll bring the Red over tomorrow.

Less children in breweries is a good thing over all (but I'd understand the frustration if I were a parent).

As for the Voodoo BOC with coconut, it was probably a firkin Friday release at Meadville. I wish they'd start doing that at Homestead.

Haha, you already had a nice list! You can save it for your out of towners if you want. I told Matt to hold on to his Cucumber Saison since I have already had this year's. If you guys want to try it, I have a bottle as well.

How do you figure it's a good thing "over all"? Brew Gentleman always has kids hanging around, playing games. It's a great environment for everyone involved.

Dude, I have so much shit that I am looking for a reason to drink. I'm going to bring a big box and what you all want to crack, we will. If you don't, then back in my basement.

Mostly because I cannot remember the last time I went to a brewery and didn't see children. It just makes me laugh because if you took your kid to a dive, you're a monster, but if you take your kid to a brewery, it's fine. Nothing personal. I've always just found the heavy kid presence in craft beer to be funny.

Should be fun. PSU_Mike and I are going to stretch out our livers at the Allegheny City event, my body is going to thank me come Sunday morning.

I would have thought that but from what I could see the firkin check ins are labeled as such. This is branded like the PB one they bottled, specifying a white crown. Who knows.. I thought I was onto a promising second career in internet sleuthing.
