Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

#200 is like sucking on a piece of wood in the best way possible.

 

Rivertowne Brewing has teamed with Four Seasons Brewing to create a special beer for Pittsburgh Specility Coffee Week. The Masterbrewers from both breweries joined forces to brew a Coffee IPA using Bali Blue Moon coffee from Monroe's Coffee, Latrobe, PA. Bali Blue Moon is an intense, heavy-bodied cup with flavorful nuances and a lasting, clean finish.

While a Coffee IPA might sound like it would be a barista’s nightmare, lovers of this style swear that opposites attract. The combination of coffee and hops is one invention that may seem unusual, but the style is growing in popularity.

Rivertowne locations will have this delicious Coffee IPA, dubbed Breakfast IPA, on tap October 20th. Stop in and grab a pint!

 

I've liked the coffee IPAs I've had in the past; looking forward to this.

I just read on mybeerbuzz.com that east end is being sued over the name big hop.

 

East End doesn't distribute in Texas and you're comparing a bar name to a beer name. Seems quite frivolous to me.

Especially this line which links to BA as "East End's website": East End Brewing makes a Big Hops IPA, which, interestingly, on East End's website, features a growler with a question mark on it.

They are seeking the right to use the trademark everywhere from Pittsburgh. Hopefully EE can get a positive resolution on this. Obviously they've been using the name long before Big Hops opened in 2013.

 

Saw two cases of hop stalker at Banksville beer on the way home...first time seeing bottles around here. Would have bought but still polishing off the hop fro case I just picked up

 

I grabbed a case of Hop Stalker last week week at Save More. It is delicious and almost gone. I enjoyed Hop Fro but they are getting too old and I can't keep my hands off th Hop Stalker.

Giant eagle waterworks has hop stalker, enjoy by 6 packs, and some new barrel aged coffee Porter from Brooklyn ($25 though)

 

Stopped at parkhouse on my stumble blumpkin bike ride post-pens game and they had hop stalker. I hadnt tried it before and i relly liked it. Better than hop fro.

Has anyone seen cases of bells 30th anywhere of at the very least 6 packs. Looking to buy some of this in bulk.

 

Shadyside GE only got like one case. Seems like it was pretty limited.

 

If you sell them at Hopping Frog, yes. hahaha
