Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

I'm interested. My Galaxy beer won't be ready for a while but I have another that is drinking very well right now.

 

All the ba variants are sold that way. A buddy of mine got ba speedway in wisconsin. It was in Washington too.

 

I gave some to a buddy a few weeks ago and he took a cap to the chin upon opening and lost half the contents. I drank one about 2-3 days ago and it was better than when I first had it but very, very carbed.

 

Fatheads used to tap a firkin at happy hour on Fridays. They may still do that. I think they also have one cask regularly?

 

Schlafly Tasmanian IPA. Clown Shoes Galactica maybe? The name seems to suggest it.

Yessir. Its not due til (I think) january, but I wanna get my fish on a string before it draws near.

 

They do have a dedicated cask on at all times, but the firkins are irregular occurrences--don't think they are hosting a Firkin Friday in November.

 

I could be totally wrong, but I thought Schlafly Tasmanian IPA was all Galaxy in years past (and just Pilsner malt). This year, it was Galaxy and Topaz.

I look forward to this beer every year, because I think it is a delicious - and under the radar - IPA. However, I thought this year's was extremely disappointing. I think the 6 packs I bought were dated 7 days after bottling. Not sure if it's because they had a mediocre crop of Galaxy, or because they added Topaz...but it was just not good this year.

 

Thought the same thing when I had it this year. Mine was a little bit older than yours, but not old.

 

Hmmm. Not sure, but I don't think I got to try that one. So they listed it as the wrong beer? Say it ain't so.

 

Shadyside had 2 cases of Utopias today. Selling 2 oz pours today and whole bottles on friday

 

Any clue of the price per pour?

 

Something resembling that. Starting at 3pm today through Friday 2oz pours will be available. Starting on Friday shadyside mad will start selling whole bottles. 12 bottles total from my understanding.

 

Yeah .... $20 from my understanding.

I'll be there around 4:15 for a pour. Kind of hoping I can score just an empty bottle too because they look cool and I don't have one..
