Creamsicle Smoov-E / Good Snooze / Gorilla Biscuit

This past weekend's release of DoubleMex went about as well as it possibly could have. We'd like to thank everyone who attended for being patient, respectful, and an overall blast to serve. You also drank us out of house and home - 450 bottles were snapped up in just over an hour, and we were left with a draft list that can only be described as "pillaged." Fortunately, three new beers arrive this week to repopulate it.

Rob "The Professor" Dillman drops his next bit of Prototype Series fire tomorrow with Creamsicle Smoov-E, a thick-n'-creamy double IPA brewed with lactose sugar and oats that's been conditioned atop Madagascar vanilla beans and 30 pounds of citrus including oranges, clementines, and Meyer lemons.

Neither lagers nor traditional European beer styles are frequent pursuits of ours, but we decided to stick to the book with Good Snooze, our first shot at a German-style pilsner. It's clean, crisp, and balanced, with a bready malt base accentuated by a light, citrusy hop addition. Knowing full well that beers like this tend to be unfairly overlooked when sharing the draft list with bolder options like double IPAs and coffee stouts, we implore you: Don't be sleeping on your boy, have a Good Snooze.

In order to feed our double IPA addiction as we wait for Kabuto to return, this week also brings with it Gorilla Biscuit, a double IPA made with Mosaic, Azacca, and Columbus hops. It's dank and resinous, with big flavors of citrus and mango and a slightly nutty malt character.

There's also a bevy of events this week that tangentially involve us: the taproom will be hosting a fundraiser for Steel City Soils this Wednesday; our illustrious and flexible Beer + Yoga instructors Hallie and Becca will be teaching yoga at Highmark Stadium this Wednesday during Yoga on the Turf; and the Thrival Festival takes place at nearby Carrie Furnaces this Friday and Saturday.

I have been asked by a friend to assemble a mixed six of bottled or canned IPA's as a gift for a beer geek from Texas. Besides Good Vibes and Headhunter, what else should I put in? I'm not sure how far some of the regional breweries around here are distributed. Would Southern Tier be available in Texas (for example)? Appreciate any info, especially from former Texans.

Bell's is not available in Texas yet, so I would include some Two Hearted. Definitely include some HeadHunter. Southern Tier is available in Texas. Voodoo should have some cans of Good Vibes coming out really soon along with 37 Pieces of Flair.

If he can look past canned he'd do well by getting some dirtwolf.

Get the three cans released today from Voodoo. All three are fantastic. Homestead location should have some unless they sold out tonight.

37 Pieces of Flair and Unrefined were both awesome. I didn't pick up Good Vibes, since I've had it so many times, but if you haven't had them, I highly recommend grabbing all three.

I am guessing this is the best thread to find out about Voodoo releases?

This thread has been open too long and is no longer a realistically useful/searchable thread for anything past the last week or so.

Locking it...start a new one for 2016 if you wish.
