Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

I actually haven't seen any Off Color or Against the Grain around yet. I was hoping to snag some Dino Smores at some point. Any info is appreciated!

 

Thanks for the reply. So far we have just been able to get Apex Predator and Troublesome ( 1 case today and on its way to Whole Foods). 3 Rivers 6 Pack, Pitts Dog'n, Bierport, Whole Foods, House of 1000, 99 Bottles, Carson St Deli have all got Against the Grain and other cans.

 

Definitely looking forward to more AtG and Off Color showing up. Also really hoping for some Tilquin one day due to the 12 Percent connection.

 

Anything make it's way down to the South Hills beer wasteland?

Picked up one of the mixed Evil Twin 8-packs at Corners earlier. The youngish guy working there was saying real nice things about Steel City.

Anyone hear anything of Black Note distro in PGH? I heard the Bell's rep might not send any our way. I know Columbus OH got it last week

 

Some made its way here at least. Already sold out in a couple places as far as I've heard (Ho1KB, Wexford Whole Foods Pub). It's so hush hush its hard to find it... At least I've had no luck so far.

 

I can do both Two and JOs stuff.

 

Friend is going to be checking out the Weis in Bellefonte this afternoon.

Any Pennsylvania brews that are must haves that he should look for? We both have pretty broad palettes and enjoy picking up regional stuff.

There's a pretty big difference in distro between what Bellefonte gets and what Pittsburgh gets. I honestly have no idea what to expect out that way.

He's going to be in State College area for a Bachelor party this weekend. The people familiar with the area seemed to think that store has a better selection than anything else in the area, but who knows.

 

The Hop Shop in downtown isn't too bad. Typical PA pricing though. Can't speak on the Weis in Bellefonte though.

 

Any specific beers up there you would recommend?

If he's a great friend, convince him to drive an extra hour to Williamsport and pick up some Bullfrog Grrrz bottles and the variants. Pretty sure there are some still available based on posts on BA; may want to call first though.

 

To be honest. There isn't much difference in pa to Ohio distro. Other than locals.
I've never been to weis. But the hop shop downtown will have occasional ba victory stuff sitting around. Some limited founders releases. 2 year old mikeller IPA's. But it's been a while since I've been there.
