Haha, yeah my brother in law (who lives there) mentioned that Pittsburgh is not like most cities in that no one actually stays downtown on the weekends. As it turns out, just texted my buddy. Apparently he moved to Highland Park, no longer in Bethel Park. Not sure what that means location-wise.

Lawrenceville is now your clear destination IMO...right up the road from Highland Park, about the same distance from McCandless - Roundabout, Hop Farm and Full Pint are all there...and there are loads of craft beer bars around that area as well.

I think theres some place like Hal's or Hough's or some male name starting with "H" up in the north hills there. Its a bar with decent tap choices and belgian bottles. Never been. Heard its pricey. Just dont go to Rivertowne...

I wouldn't say don't go to Rivertowne, but i would say go to any other location than the north shore.....they have a great imperial pumpkin, session ipa and Scottish ale! Rudolph red just released too and Is pretty good spiced imp red......if do make it to city I also like roundabout grist house voodoo and brew gents! Voodoo has good vibes and big black voodoo daddy that's worth seeking out to take with you as well

Definitely plan on looking for Fat Heads. Hoping to make it to the area where Roundabout is. If so I will be checking them out as well. All depends on how much time I can manage to get out of the family's house. Thanks for the info.

Isn't Brew Gents pretty far outside the city?

its definitely not convenient, but it's easily the best brewery in the area imo. Plus it's like 5 minutes from voodoo.

And like twenty from Fat Heads. So, trifecta.

If you're looking for a close decent happy hour I highly recommend The Wexford Ale House. Not a crazy beer selection but always damn good and reasonable during hh. Never had a bad meal there either.

None of their beers were necessarily bad (except the pineapple one), but they all kinda just tasted and looked the same and tasted a bit stale. The atmosphere was awful, minus the back patio which was nice. And the bartender was pretty unhelpful/moody despite the small inflow that night. Maybe thats why. I suppose I should try going back this season for some beer variety and to give em another try.

Do many of the distributors have cases of Head Hunter? Roughly how much would that cost?

Yea, most distributors have HH. Just make sure you check the bottled date? Maybe $50 (ish).

Yeah was just looking at this place. $52 for a case, which is great for a beer with a 4.33 BA score. The problem? I've now seen about 10 different cases of beer I want to buy. Haha. Hopefully, the bottle shops have the same beers.

It's everywhere here. Every Giant Eagle with beer section will have it for 9.99 4/pk and under a month old. Don't need to go for the case if you want a lot of different beers.

I'd consider buying a case of that. But some of the Deschutes/Elysian (not available in MA) I'd want to grab some of also along with Voodoo & a few others.

It's my favorite beer and I drink more of it than anything else so I'm not trying to talk you down from a case. Just giving you options if you didn't want to go that route.

For Voodoo, Good Vibes is really nice and if you can find Big Black Voodoo Daddy, jump on it. Great stout. Elysian...meh. Deschutes has some great beers though.

If you are staying in McCandless, just hit up Whole Foods. They have everything you mentioned in 4 packs or sometime even single bottles.

Just saw a mixed 12 from voodoo that may be good to try. Six different beer types.
