Hey, anybody have any bottles they feel like sharing? I sure do. Turns out there are a lot of people who drink beer in Pittsburgh now. Like way more than there were 5+ years ago it would seem. Maybe we can finally put together a regular monthly bottle share. Then all the giant lushes have an excuse to drink way too much beer at least once a month, those of us with beer accumulation problems can get rid of some of it, and people with actual lives who can't make it to one of the shares won't have to feel quite so bad about it knowing there's another one right around the corner. Win/win/win!

We still have to deal with the often unanswered question of where this would take place. I think the best bet would be a byob place. Probably something with a larger capacity as well.

Always interested in these, location is always tough for me since I am coming from Westmoreland County.

On a side note, if folks find themselves out toward Hidden Valley then Out of the Fire is a great restaurant that is BYOB. I don't think they would want a massive tasting, but a half dozen folks and significant others did a dinner/tasting there back in April that worked out great.

Who spearheaded the Beerhive tasting? Have they been generally pleased with the results, or does it seem like something they're willing to do every few months just to stay in the good graces of the beer community? Seemed like a great location and space -- would love to get something semi-regular going there. If we could even find 3 different spots around Pittsburgh (are we still ever welcome at OTB?), and rotate so there's a tasting every month, but each spot doesn't have to deal with it more than 4 times a year, that seems like it would be a pretty great situation.

I could probably host in Swissvale, but I doubt I could fit more than a dozen or so people comfortably. And I wouldn't even be able to do that until I fix the place up a bunch, so probably not 'til sometime in the new year.

Or this place might work over the summer: https://bayardstown.com/

I'm about to be reunited with my collection, and am going to be pretty desperate to find people to help me drink it. So hopefully we can figure something out here.

@HopFace has organized all the beerhive tastings I believe. As for OTB I dont think we burned any bridges there, but don't remember who was organizing those.

Guys are the beerhive are cool. They just want you to buy food and tip well. We've done that the last couple times and it works out well. The waitress indulges with us a bit too.

If you wanted to get one going, email - [email protected]

If you do end up having it at BG, you may want to try and coordinate for when there will be food truck(s) there.

I added a post to the Western Pa thread. I am going to meet with Zach there to discuss, but I do want to hold it when there is a food truck and I want to work out something that is fair to them so hopefully we could keep them as a location for these in the future.

I posted this in the Western PA thread as well. The tasting is scheduled on the 28th of February.

I submitted an event and will post the link in the thread when it is approved. Some highlights include Pittsburgh Taco Truck (weather permitting), sampling some of @brewgentlemen barrel aged brews, a discount on 3 samples (5oz pours) of what they have on tap for $6 ($1.50 off), private space with table, glassware and pitchers of water. Starts at 3:00 PM.

I apologize in advance for any schedule issues, but this date worked for them, a food truck and me. Many thanks in advance to them hosting this.

Can someone start a Google spreadsheet for the bottles?

Also, if someone wants to come and feels like they don't have a good bottle to bring BM me and I will bring one for you. If it gets to be too much for me I am sure others will chime in with the same offer. Looking forward to this!
