Pittsburgh Tasting?

    If its still warm out my vote is for Bocktown. We had a tasting there before and they gave us the whole outside. Not sure if they would do that again but you can't beat drinking outside.

    Should we shoot for mid/late Sept? I like Beehive because that near-ish to the train. Not opposed to Bocktown though.

    Should we try to coordinate it with Big Pour week? That would be mid Septemberish.

    I'd prefer Beerhive to Bocktown just because I would be coming from Harrison City.

    I'm in the city so where ever is fine by me. So long as we aren't hauling ass out to Cranberry or Greensburg, I'm in. I commute over 2 hours every day so I'm immune to driving.

    What did it go for if you don't mind me asking? I am saving for a wedding so I may not have even been in the ballpark.

    Just out of curiosity, what do folks consider "tasting-worthy" beers? I would potentially be interested in participating, but fear that I would be woefully lacking in the beer dept. Obviously not going to bring something that's stacked on the Giant Eagle shelves, but how rare/obscure does an offering have to be in order to not offend people and look like a putz?

    If it is not in Pgh distribution that is a great start. The spirit of these things is not to exclude. If you are worried and that is what would keep you from coming then BM me and I will bring an extra bottle provided I can make it to this tasting.

    This is very cool to do for someone. I tend to never do this stuff for the same reason (second floor apartment so no cellar to age or keep beer) and I also got ripped off on BA so I stopped trading after that and therefore, I am not getting anything unique these days. I have never been to The Beerhive either. Might have to check it out sometime

    The theme is "good beer" :slight_smile:

    I think randoms would be fun. That way if you aren't keen on a style there are other beers for you to try.

    If you want to come and think you don't have anything to bring, I'll provide an extra bottle for you. And for some reason I can't make it, I'll give the bottle to @HopFace so you'll still be able to contribute.
