Any traction on this to get a bottle list going?

Sorta unrelated, but what places allow bottle shares in the Metro area?

You really have to just call around and see who is willing to accomodate...there are BYOB places out there, but depending on the size of your group, certain places are more appropriate than others...

Some charge a "corking fee" and others are going to want you to commit to food purchases, etc, etc...

If we'd be drinking that many beers, you bet your ass we'd be eating. Too much beer to not eat something.

I could be wrong, but based solely on location, I think that guy was asking for other reasons...unrelated to our tasting. (Apologies @BuckTuckian if you really are asking because of this event...if you drive up from Kentucky just for this, I'll happily share everything I bring with you )

Not to say I don't agree with you...lots of water and snacks at the last big tasting at the beerhive for sure.

    Thanks @kbuzz.
I was asking a general question about the area not the scheduling of this tasting.
    Sorry to thread jack.
I'm genuinely trying to find out what places within 20 miles of Pittsburgh will let you BYOB for 20+ person bottle share.
    Cheers!

That's about what we had, maybe even more like 30, for our last bigger tasting...and the Beerhive was pretty damn accommodating. Gave us the entire upstairs and provided glasses and ice. I believe they did require a commitment from us to get some basic bar food which they served in foil pans over sterno heat so we could help ourselves throughout the evening. Not great food...but certainly nice to have there when drinking some big ass beers....

I think the menu ordering is easier. Everyone gets what they want and you can have as much or as little as you want. Plus some people like to eat before they start drinking, some after, and some during. I dont mind the catering we had last time, just seems like a hassle to try and get everyone to agree on what to have as well as a lot of waste.

I'm from Northeast, Ohio and am about 40 mins outside of Pittsburgh. My wife and I frequent there often. I just put together a facebook group page that deals with beer discussion/bottle tastings and shares. We want to get people together for beer tastings and maybe even incorporate some with big events/Steelers games. Please ask to join and I'll invite ya in!

Menu ordering is easier, for us. Last time they preferred we did the catering; I am assuming to make it easier on the kitchen and the waitress. They may not require that this time. I believe I had to pick one or two entrees and a side or two and everyone who wanted that food choice could pitch in, if not, they bought their own. It was nice to have a constant table of munchies. Towards the end I believe I was just eating spoonfuls of beer cheese. mmmmmmmm
