This is the upside to the catering option. Here's to hoping they will let us order from the menu. Their food is really good. As long as I get some sticky pig I will be happy.

I'd much prefer menu even if it's slightly more expensive. Despite the fact that I am 245lbs, I am a very picky fat kid.

I believe it was $10 a person for the catering. I wouldn't mind ordering from the menu, though. Maybe we can bring pretzels and peanuts to have out to munch on. And of course, the beer cheese.

PSU_Mike, I will make sure to bring some china and a silver goblet for you to drink from.

I'd prefer a golden goblet but whatever...

I just moved to the cranberry area last month. don't really know too many people who share my interest in beer here. I'd easily be down for a tasting

Just realized this and every other date mentioned is a Friday. WTF?

Seems to work with most people. I could set up a poll if that would make things better. Another date you suggest?

The last big one at The beer hive was great. I'd love to make it out to this one but, unfortunately, I can't do Fridays at this point. If things change between now and then I'll be there.

Saturday the 27th is UFC 178 which, to MMA fans, is one of the most stacked cards in a long time. Don't make me choose :slight_frown:

After what transpired today that main event will be one not to miss.

    How's about Saturday the 20th?

I will be in Pittsburgh on the the weekend of the 6th of September. If you do it on the 6th I can bring some California stuff.

Beerhive finally got back to me. They are good for Friday September 26th.

Let me know before I book it. Heard some opposition to this date. Want to see what the majority thinks.

Looking doubtful but I'd meet up to share a few if you wanted.

    Response from Beerhive:

"Hi Adam. That sounds great. We can book you for 15 people, but we can't shut off the room to other guests. Our cut off is for 30 people. Let me know if you'll be adding any more guests. We'll schedule you for Fri, Sept., 26th. Please let me know your time of arrival. Thanks and we look forward to having you."

So we'd have part of the upstairs unless we got 30 people. I'm ok with that though. A bar that lets us bring our own beer? Sure!

    Thoughts?

I am free except for this weekend Aug 8-10, Sept 19-21, and Sept 27th. The 26th would be good for me. I know some are against Fridays but they are fine for me.

I think you set a date and move forward. If it is up for debate amongst 20 people, it will be 6 weeks before anything gets decided...

And then pick another date in Oct/Nov to appease the Sat folks. Or one of them can organize something that fits their schedule.

I havent been able to make a big tasting in a LONG time due to other plans. It happens. Tickers gonna tick elsewhere sometimes.

    Thanks for setting this up.

Im good with everything Adam. As I stated above the only weekend in Sept I cant make it is the 12 & 13. I have a wedding I am in that weekend. I dont think it will be an issue with them not shutting of the room. Sometimes people will just see a group like ours and sit elsewhere. I dont remember it ever being super busy there, I am assuming that our other tastings there were on Fridays. The only time is was really busy was the 2nd tasting we had there and thats because it was trivia night.

Did they say anything about food? I take it we are good to just order off the menu, or do they not even care about that?

OK let's go with the 26th then. Beerhive said they are cool with that and this doesn't have to be the last tasting this year. We can schedule more.

Anyway, they were cool with us ordering off the menu and were cool with providing water/glases/etc. In my opinion, it's very very cool of a bar to let you bring your own beer in and just buy food. I'm going to get confirmation with everything and then I'll report back.
