Anyone have a cooler they can bring to keep the brews cold while we wait to crack em? Last time Beerhive supplied the ice.

@PSU_Mike, bring what you want to drink. If you aren't a fan of stouts, then bring something else you like or want to try.

What is the glassware situation? Is it BYO or do they have decent hardware there to drink from? I really don't want to drink from a damn shaker.

I think its best if you bring your own that way you dont have to worry about it.

GE Shadyside had Black Butte 26th Anniv. yesterday. I grabbed one and saw only 3 bombers left on the shelf. I have never had this before and had never seen it around here either until now. If this is as difficult to find as it seems, and others on here have wanted to try it but cannot find it, I will bring it to the tasting if I am able to make it.

That has a best AFTER date of next year. I have the 25th though if you wanted to try it.

Best after dates are hilarious to me.

The only date that matters is the bottling date. I can make my own decisions on when to drink based on that.

The only one I have really ever seen who does this is Deschutes. Are there others? And it's just a suggestion like Best Before dates, stop being such a hard ass. Dick...

Stone is doing it now on their new brett IPA or whatever.

But my comment was regarding best by/best before...and best after. Just tell me when the damn thing was bottled and I'll figure the rest out...otherwise since I suck at math, I end up passing on a lot of those "suggestion-type" dates.

EDIT: here's the Stone thing: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/stone-enjoy-after-10-31-2015.210596/

That's like releasing cheese that hasn't matured and saying wait a year to eat it. If its not up to your standard of consumption as a Brewer then don't release it.

Ha I did not even notice a best after date. I never had any of the black butte anniversary beers so I would be into trying any of them

Bumping this up with the tasting happening next Friday. I am excited about the lineup thus far and looking forward to meeting some new folks.

Not to go off on too much of a tangent here, but I imagine it would cost the brewer (& the consumer) more to sit on it longer in the brewery. This way, the consumer can get it for a little cheaper & age it themselves.

Agree on this as well! Should be a good time. Don't forget the 12ozer for the drawing!

@HopFace Maybe bring the 25th and 26th and do a side-by-side...? I absolutely love this series, but they're all slightly different, so it's definitely fun (and delicious) to try them side by side. Also, I would guess the best after date is bullshit. Probably just a little on the hot side.
