For those of you who have tried the BBA SSU, what did you think? Could you compare it to anything?

Hoping to try my Bourbon SSU withing the next few days. Just had my last regular SSU, and I really cant wait for them to can it again. I think this is probably my favorite stout of all time.

I have referred to it as my favorite non barrel aged coffee beer. It is unbelievably smooth and damn near perfect.

So I personally think the regular SSU is the better beer here. It just has that great coffee flavor that the barrel aged version doesn't. They can't have aged this for very long either as the bourbon/barrel flavor is very light. The BBA-SSU is still a really great tasting beer, but with the huge price difference I dont see why you need anything but the regular.

I think the beauty of the BBA versions are how harmonious the barrel character is with the base beer. Not hitting you over the head with bourbon and oak, but not making you search too hard for it. Beautiful balance. Believe they were in barrels for about 4 months.

Couldn't agree more here. Had the Vietnamese barrel version over the weekend and found it delicious. I prefer beer with a hint of bourbon, not the other way around. This was a perfect balance IMO

They had Instagram posts back on December 22nd 2016 and January 5th of this year about getting barrels and then filling them with SSU. Safe to say this batch in cans are from those barrels?

Have yet to try either version of this canning but when I had it on draft last June I loved it!

Haven't heard anything, not that I'd need to be told before anything happened.

Both BBA versions were still available when I left around 7:30 pm tonight. Only three cases or so of Vietnamese coffee. Not sure whether they have more in the back.

Also, base beer SSU is on draft for growlers/crowlers.

I am drinking a BBA regular SSU right now, and it tastes awesome!

P.S. They had four Tired Hands beers on draft. I definitely read either on here or on instagram that Al got banned. That can't be true.

After some of his social media posts, I can believe it. I stopped going there for a couple years because of them and actually the release of SSU got me back. As long as he cans SSU and IPAs/DIPAs, I will continue buying his stuff.

BA. I believe that is true because I also remember reading that somewhere right around the time he had the DFH outburst.

Oh, the proximity to the comment about TH beers on tap had me confused. Don't really know about the BA eligibility. Don't care, either. Also doesn't mean that anyone else has to stop caring.
