Because Tired Hands caters to the #newmoney hype crowd. Those guys can't drink an IPA unless A. It tastes like a "JUICE BOMB!" or B. It has the name "milkshake" in it.

Want to preface this with the disclaimer that we are huge fans of Troegs and are good for at least a visit once per week on average. Great place. That said, I wouldn't tie the popularity of craft beer in the region to how busy Troegs is. Not saying that is your entire argument, but I'm usually reminded of how far craft beer still has to go when I sit at the bar there and hear some of the discussions and bartender/customer interactions that go on.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard some form of "What beer is most like Miller Lite?" then I'd buy us all a round.

You just made a good point without trying to do it. Tröegs is a place where hardcore craft drinkers and Miller Lite drinkers can go and both find something they enjoy. For instance, Miller Lite drinkers would probably like Sunshine Pils. I will agree that Harrisburg/Hershey does not have as many craft drinkers as other PA cities, but it's growing. I believe Tröegs is helping with that. It's great when I hear a Miller Lite/Bud Light/Coors Light drinker say they enjoy Tröegs and their beer.

The Bourbon SSU is sticking around because they canned a ton and it's expensive as all hell. (I bought 2) Nobody's going there and buying a case like with the other beers. Plus having it on hand long isn't a bad thing. Let's people who are just coming in for lunch have the opportunity to try a can.

Well, I decided against the extra typing to indicate that people getting into non BMC beers is a good thing.

But, yes, I do believe that. The more the merrier.

I think the Harrisburg area craft scene is solid and growing. Still so long to go to try and catch Philly, and because of population, it probably won't happen. Although, your point about this area not having as many craft drinkers as other PA cities... I'd slot it third behind Philly and Pittsburgh. Where else? Erie? State College? Scranton? For practical purposes, I would lump York and Lancaster in with Harrisburg/Hershey.

Right, I understand what you're saying. Troeg's was just the easiest example to use. Maybe we'll see the hype spike up now that they are canning more often. I mean look at how quickly this thread exploded when we see $15 6 packs of Spandex.

I had York and Lancaster as their own, but yes we can lump them in too. York is huge right now for craft beer for the size of it.

Yeah, no worries on the example. Didn't mean to harp on that needlessly. Are we encroaching on Pizza Boy's own thread? Are these regions included in the Southeast PA thread? What is the meaning of life? So many questions...

Collusion is killing it in York. I would expect them to keep growing quickly.

Amen. Collusion has been a revelation. Love that place. They immediately shot to the top of the York beer scene.

I was at the York Hibrewnation as a volunteer and as soon as the gates opened for the VIP session, almost everyone went to Collusion (not exaggerating). I had the Betrayal with Espresso and it was phenomenal. Seems like they are doing very well for the short amount of time they've been around.

Or, because it is too far west for drinkers from the most densely populated state in the union to join. Nor can NYC drinkers. It would take me the same amount of time to get to Al's as it would to get to Tree House. That said, I've never been to either.

Alright, who wants to guess what the next canned release it?

I am going with Murren River and/or SSU.

Looked both up. Booberry sounds really good. It appears you know something?

I know nothing, total sarcasm there. If I'm guessing with sincerity, I'll say Sour Murren and Blue Collar Lager.

Lol you got me there. It's hard to tell sarcasm sometimes. I mean sh*t, he did can Arck Angel so nothing would surprise me.

I made sure to pick two beers that I would be stunned to see them ever make again, let alone can. As for Arck Angel, really wish the blueberry version would have made it to cans instead of Peach...

I recommend checking out South County..They had a strawberry lemon gelato DIPA for their anniversary party that was ridiculous.
