Hey Guys, Wanted to see if Pizza Boy just makes up rules depending on whose working or what the deal is. I was in this past Sunday trying to get a growler of BA Sunny Side up and they said they don't put that beer in growlers, its for draft only. Yet, I have seen FT: BA Sunny Side Up threads and other people saying they can get it filled. Not sure if the person helping me that day was not aware or if other people are just getting lucky. Anyone know? I might try and go back and see it they will fill again, but it's a pretty far drive. Thanks!
Think it's on an individual basis; usually their website or draft board details this, though I have seen printed sheets noting when certain beers aren't to be crowler/growler available.
They were doing growler/crowler fills of BA SSU until yesterday per their Instagram account. As the supply dwindled it was moved to draft only. They did also say in the same Instagram post if you bring your own 1L glass growler they will fill it with BA SSU but that may have changed.
What size growler did you have? Or were you trying to buy the glass there as well? They only did 32 oz/ 1 liter fills of it and ran out of crowlers and 32 oz growlers well before Sunday.
Had 64oz growler with me. Are they only filling these in 32oz sizes? I guess that could be the reasoning. Makes sense now.
I may be wrong, but I believe there was a period of time where they were not filling any crowlers/growlers and it was draft only. Then they put out on social media that they will fill 32 growlers but they don't have any of their own in stock.
From day one only 32oz fills, no 64oz. Sounds like you were there when they were out of Crowlers or I'm sure they would have offered you the option.
Was in there last night. I'm 100% positive it said they do growler fills with Sunny Side Up per their board because I was thinking of getting it.
Let me ask you guys this since we're on the subject: So, I was at Pizza Boy on Saturday night and almost bought a growler to go. I did not see any advantages to doing this because of the cost, even after knowing I could reuse the growler for fills. What would be the advantages besides freshness?
The advantage would be so you could take the beer home with you. Or do you mean advantage of buying a growler vs getting a crowler?
I'm talking growlers in general. I bought one about a year ago from ABC and after the price of just the beer, it was cheaperper ounce to just buy a 6 pack.
Last I heard, Pizaa boys doesn't sell six-packs so if you wanted to take their beer home, you'd need a grolwer or a canned crowler. Which is also the way a lot of smaller brew pubs are, hence the growler.
Makes sense since they do not have 6 packs. I guess my best bet would be a crowler since I don't drink that often. Thanks for your reply.
