Anyone have any recommendations for other beers like hoptart? Usually not a sour fan, but I liked this. I also thought Westbrook Gose was decent.

Will Westy's sell me Al's (when it's released) stuff less than a case at a time? Psyched to get the chance to grab bottles when I buzz through town next month.

I have only bought cases from them... But that is when it is good to know someone local who loves Al's and maybe can split things with some BA friends

Well dang... that sounds great. Let's talk when Al's hits the shelves.

Just a heads up the Pizza Boy bottles may not be ready when you head through town, also most of the other beers are kegged. Better off stopping at the brewery and filling a few growlers!

Westy's is a distributor, so they can only sell by the case or keg/sixtel. Of course, if you want less than a case, I'm sure Al's will be selling in 6-packs and singles and it's only a few min from Westy's.

Does Westy's do samples? How will I know if I want to buy a whole case/keg?

The only bottles will be 750ml so no six packs. There will eventually be can's tho, just no timetable yet for them.

That's too bad. Sounds like he's looking to distribute mostly to bars then in kegs. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of sales for cases of 750ml bottles. If you're looking for less than a case, might as well just get a fresh growler at the brewery.

The only thing being bottled is the sours. You don't think there would be much interest in a case of them? LOL I would be over there in line right now along with about a hundred other people. I seriously doubt there will be that many cases to go around anyway. Most will stay at the shop and the rest will probably be sent to a select few retailers. The kegs were always meant to go to bars, anything less you can obviously just go to the shop ten minutes away. Once they start to can you will see the rest of the beers become available.

I think most 750ml case sales would be to secondary retailers like Wegmans. Really depends on the pricing though. I'm sure there would be a few people that would spend $200+ (assuming Permasmile would be discounted from the $25 per single bottle price, otherwise it'd be a $300 case) on a case though, but probably not "a few hundred".

Sounds like he'll just be mostly selling them as singles for off-site consumption, though so it doesn't really matter.

Wegmans? Not a chance. Smaller bottle shops are much more likely. I never said "a few hundred" I said "about a hundred" and I was obviously exaggerating....but I personally know at least thirty people who would buy cases in a heartbeat, and that is just from this area. It doesn't really matter tho, the chances of anyone being able to buy a case from a distributor is pretty much zero.

Last time I talked to them they still hadn't decided how to release the bulk of it to the public. I would assume a portion of each will be for on-site consumption since it worked out so well last time, Permasmile is still for sale over a year later but that supply is dwindling down. A small portion will go into some kind of limited distribution and the rest will be sold in some form or another to go. Either way it shouldn't be that hard to find a bottle if you want one.

I would buy a case of Permasmile @ $300 in the amount of time it took me to leave work, drive to Al's, and hand them my money. $25 for a world class sour is actually pretty reasonable. There would be a line two blocks long for Permasmile by the case @ $25 a bottle.

My wife and I got permasmile (two actually) and we had other beers at the table with other people while we drank our permasmiles and I think my wife still had her first beer left before she started on the permasmile? What do you mean you can't have other beers while drinking that?

Plus it says you are from Lesotho, how often can you go to Pizza Boy?
