I never realized how insanely in-the-way this place is on my journey "back home" from DC to Scranton. I think I'm going to stop there tonight.

Had a bottle of Intangible lats night, and dear god was that a sour bomb. $18 might seems like a lot, but I've paid more for Bruery sours, and this more than held its own. One down, two to go...

And for the record, while I was miffed at first hearing about them not doing flights, I completely understand after a few visits. The place is generally a madhouse during prime drinking hours with both food and beer customers, and trying to coordinate a tray/paddle/whatever of tasters would dramatically slow things up.

I can only hope more Pizza Boy stuff starts popping up on draft...when I went last month, I think there were about 20 or so on. Last night, there were roughly half that. Yeah I know, minor quibble, but the stuff I've had from PB has been awesome (everything), and I want more, dammit.

The Intangible is wonderful, and has definitely changed since it was first bottled, as the brett is starting to develop. Same with Permasmile -- which is becoming incredibly complex.

You definitely will. They've had a few issues transitioning to the new brew house, but it looks like they've just about wrapped up most of the problems. Plus, they had to get all of the old tanks moved over from the old basement brewery, and hooked up. So, they should be brewing at max capacity in the very near future.

Had these last night - Pizza Boy Grapefruit INURIPA and LIME IPA. Outstanding! Get some!

Is the taplist on the Pizza Boy website up to date? If it isn't does anyone know what pizza boy beers on on tap at today?

In my experience, they're generally pretty good about keeping it up to date, and they even list at the bottom when it was last updated. I just checked the site, and it says it was last updated yesterday.

I'm 95% sure it's automated through their flat-screen system as opposed to hand updated, so whenever something kicks it vanishes off the site as well as the LED board.

Is this something new with them? In the past, there were occasions when the on-line site wasn't updated for a couple of days, and sometimes I'd stop by, only to find that two or three of the beers I was expecting had been changed out with something else. If it is, then it's definitely a welcome improvement (though even in the past Al's was one of the better places about keeping their online site up to date).

Finally got to check this place out on Sunday afternoon, was impressed with the setup. So spacious, and I really like being able to order/help yourself instead of being tethered to a waiter/waitress. These digital taplists are awesome too, I hope to see more places start using them (dont see it much in the city), especially since there's seems to be updated instantly so there's no confusion about what's actually available.

Tried two IPAs, a berliner and two wild ales and really enjoyed all of them. I think my favorites were Grapefruit INURI and the Chardonnay Sour. I'll have to get back eventually to try one of the bottles and the food since we didn't have too much time to spend.

The Sour Chardonnay is great. The Lime IPA is really good too.

make sure you are checking the taplist at www.alsofhampden.com. we have a new website that will launch soon but is not functioning yet(pizzaboybrewing.com)
the taplist is up to the minute updated as it is connected to our pos system and the draft boards in house and the online beer list.

@john- we have never went a couple days without updating our draft list, since its installation in 2009.

We got growlers of the Lime IPA and the Grapefruit IPA (since the Chardonnay wasn't available to go...understandable). Really good, sessionable and affordable.

I'm gonna be going this weekend. So many new Pizza Boy beers to try. That new Biere de Garde with fir tips, herring smoked malt, and orange zest is too interesting sounding to not try.

I have had both. The Sour Chardonnay is really good. I do not believe it is available in growlers. The Pipeapple Sour is good but not as good as the Sour Chardonnay.

As was previously said, no growlers on the Chardonnary...I think they were available for the Pineapple, not sure of the price but I'd wager something like $12 for a 1L. Chardonnay looked like pond water, tasted pretty great...pineapple was awesome.

Tried the raspberry sour yesterday as well and it was freakishly good.

sounds pretty solid. i would like to get two growlers of stuff from them if anyone is interested in a trade. i can offer two counter-pressure'd 32oz growlers of spontaneously fermented local stuff from Oregon. send me a BM if you think you would be interested and i can give you some info about the brewery (deGarde)
